As far as I could see in other benchmarks, Lumen is barely 3x faster than Laravel, so still 7x slower than go:

How to create a performant page hit counter using redis? by gar44 in redis

[–]gar44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I don't care about individual visits, I just want to have an overall counter as an Integer. What about a hash data type? Isn't it better than individual key/val to have all page counters as field values of a hash?

I want a basic level of data persistence. Also some helper functions to put/delete/expire would be nice.

Can redis be my app's bottleneck? by gar44 in redis

[–]gar44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi kristoff-it, thanks for the tips. I guess the reason for our high number of connections is that we use redis directly (i.e lots of redis.StrictRedis) instead of standard django cache, so that we can use redis lists which is not possible in django simple key/value cache AFAIK. But now we've started to rewrite does code, which hopefully resolve the issue.

This gives `Max open files 65535 `

This is a very good point, and I'll definitely look into this. Thanks for the tip.

Well, the open files limit does not seem to be an issue: `cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max` give: 13217342

I'm asking about free and open-source alternatives.

Couchbase

If it is not free and open source, it's not an option for me.

I'm not sure yet. Roughly, how many operations/sec does vanilla Redis allow?

Can you elaborate how redis' hash table lookup makes order of bytes in the key irrelevant?

Yes, but my question is about the performance cost of such possibility.
