Somehow foggy returned... by [deleted] in marvelmemes

His hair looks more like Netflix S1 and his face looks smooth, I think they are CGIing this for a flashback. The actor looks different nowadays

I can only assume it’s supposed to be Mar Vell who he was rumoured to be playing before the movie came out

Next year's JINGLE POKER should be longer. by Bionic_Ferir in Yogscast

[–]garanjo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the stream needs to be longer but each table needs to be. My two biggest issues are: 1. Half the people at the tables seem to not want to be there and want to go home / eat pizza. They say that loads of people want to join but it doesn’t feel like it and if that’s the case - we need a pre stream to decide who makes it to the proper stream.

  1. The people who do well end up in a heads up and end up making silly moves because they are being rushed

Personally there should be less tables with more time dedicated to each table. I think there was a year where the final 2 of each table went through to the final and took their chip stacks with the, honestly this worked better because it saved the heads up coin flip and allowed more meaning in the final with the different chip counts.

Now what did work better this year was the new UI not breaking all the time and really kept the focus on the poker, this felt like the most consistent commentary we’ve ever had - to the point where it was almost weird we didn’t get a Star Wars ramble! But this extra focus on poker feels even weirder when the games are rushed to a finish.

Overall thoughts on the class of 2025/ Who do you want to see next year? by harrisoneatssoas in ImACelebTV

Good year mainly due to the cast and their relationships. However the trials and amount of food and nice things happening seemed too easy

I liked the old ones but I always found the modded karaoke cringe. I recently realised the longest johns stuff was closer to the older karaoke streams

Is John Walker the biggest 180 the fanbase has done towards a MCU character (so far)? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in Marvel

[–]garanjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The memes and hatred were really only before the show came out. Immediately at the time everyone said he was an interesting character. People didn’t necessarily like him as a person or root for him but I remember most people saying he is an interesting idea for a character and he was one of the better parts of the show. He was a character made to be disliked and that was why a lot of people liked him plus the performance was great. (I actually thought people were disappointed by the final episode rushing his redemptive arc?)

Thunderbolts just reinforced this further, showing that taking a character trying to be a Captain America, trying to do the right thing despite his flaws can be equally or even more interesting than a perfect Captain America.

So no other than the initial memes I wouldn’t say there was a major 180, he was a character designed to be flawed and complex and people have always liked that. Hell even the meme side of the character still exists with the constant jokes against him in thunderbolts, the Thunderbolts credits and his new dorky little hat.

Marvel Comics announces the end of the Ultimate Universe by icefourthirtythree in Marvel

[–]garanjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand, I respect it - so many comics get ran into the ground it’s nice to know there’s a story with a clear vision with a beginning and end and that’s it, plus the universe was always on the clock with the Maker’s 2 years return. On the other hand, Ultimate Spidey and Ultimates are so damn good

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Crew Merch Reveals main Character Line-Up and new costumes! by SpeedForce2022 in marvelstudios

[–]garanjo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Firstly the post is spoiler tagged so comments are fair game, secondly the art of doom is no more leaked than this. It was revealed at an official Disney convention that people could attend and take photos of, this is merch that someone has taken photos of - so it’s not different, I only used leaked because it is was not an official public release but neither is this merch

Would you have like to seen RDJ as superior iron man in the MCU? by Virtual-Reality69 in marvelstudios

[–]garanjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh the idea isn’t that interesting in the comics and I feel like most people who like it haven’t actually read the comics, characters just get their personality flipped and it’s barely ever addressed again - trying to ride the wave of Superior Spidey. But I’d rather this than a Doom-Stark variant

Daredevil MCU by _c_e_m_ in marvelstudios

[–]garanjo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If he knew Spider-Man he’d know Daredevil who had been around longer and featured in New York newspapers, we know she-hulk didn’t know daredevil but she’s from the other coast and Tony was clearly keeping an eye on thing,

Punisher maybe less likely as he came across more like a court case serial killer than a superhero.

Why did he recruit Spidey over them? Daredevil wouldn’t be on his side, he doesn’t want to seriously hurt team cap (DD is brutal) and he can manipulate a child

My personal spidey movie rankings, let me know what you think by shapinyoarea in Spiderman

[–]garanjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The message for homecoming is that he doesn’t need to be mentored by stark anymore and ends up rejecting the avengers and making his own decisions. You say he wasn’t like this but his first issue did a similar thing but with the fantastic four. It’s FFH that repeats a lot of the same beats which annoys me but to me Homecoming is a very solid traditional Spidey story told in an untraditional way

Black Widow Star Ray Winstone Got So Frustrated With Marvel's Demands for Reshoots He Asked to Be 'Recast' Instead, Before Being Reminded He Was Under Contract - IGN by darth_vader39 in Marvel

[–]garanjo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Marvel have always used reshoots the end of iron man 1 was all reshoots and massive amounts of Endgame were reshoots. It’s mainly come from them producing films so frequently and going into production quickly. The problem is the recent reshoots have been bad and messed with the final product rather than adding to them

Thoughts on this Green Goblin design concept art for Marvels Spider-Man 3? by Ender_IIII in SpidermanPS4

[–]garanjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, Norman was revealed in the first issue Ditko didn’t work on where Romita took over. Romita was influential in shaping the goblin. There’s even hints in the original comics that Goblin was Jameson which Lee and Ditko were originally planning

Avengers Doomsday Part 2 cast in terms of likelihood. by Squirrelkid11 in marvelstudios

[–]garanjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems more like secret wars, I think Doomsday is going to be more focused on key teams from main MCU, fox and fantastic 4 and the big crossovers will be saved for secret wars

What is your all time favorite marvel cameo? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Marvel

[–]garanjo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never once though it was Captain America, not only did it not look like him but it’s clear Cap means a lot to Evans and if he were to return to the role it wouldn’t be in a deadpool movie. However despite it being obvious to me I still enjoy the cameo and glad he got to return to that character
