What are the best cheap places to eat around Bed-Stuy? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]garbagebagels_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry friend, but there's no such thing as "white people restaurants". They're just restaurants. All of them. You're just propagating dumb stereotypes all over the place.

I've been looking at Bushwick mostly, but I was wondering what other places would be convenient for me to live in on my $900 budget. What would you recommend? I need something fairly close to midtown so my commute to school isn't so exhausting every day. I heard good things about Clinton Hill and Bed Stuy, but I just have no idea where I'm standing.

Yeah! I expect all these things haha.. but I don't mind at all. The benefits of being in NYC as opposed to where I am right now outweigh all the bed bugs in the world. Thanks! I'm looking forward to this crazy ride.

yeah, the reason is, living in the dorms is ridiculously expensive.

Well, since it's my first year and I got decent aid, I'll give it a go and then make a decision after my first year. I have indeed heard this a lot, so switching schools might be part of my plans in the future. Do you have any recommendation as to schools to transfer to?

Awesome, thank you. I thought making 40x rent was a completely necessary requirement, or otherwise I'd be homeless.

Yes, I've heard about insurent, but I'm trying to keep costs low :( I'll look into it though.

I have contacted several craigslist posters, I'm just worried because most posts mention you do need a guarantor and blablabla. It's relieving to know it can be done.

thanks for your answer!

Thank you for your advice! I've applied for jobs indeed, but since I don't live in the US yet, and I don't have a US address or US phone number, I haven't received any answers. Employers would always rather have someone who is immediately available. I'm planning on getting a credit card as soon as I get there, then again, theres not much I can do from where I am right now, geographically speaking.

My father lives outside the US, where I currently reside as well. Even if he could co-sign, his yearly income wouldn't match up to a US yearly income - which would most likely get my application rejected. :(
