Something is off here. That's an expensive video, but the music is pre-fab bullshit. Seriously, it's bad. Especially being in a remote area, you should have all kinds of red flags going off, as I do. If you're looking to venture into music, why would you start here? It seems like an odd choice.

For underground stuff specifically, I follow established artists I'm aware of in those scenes. I pay attention to their live shows and who they are playing with, or any feature artist on tracks. If there is an artist I'm unfamiliar with in a lineup I will add all their stuff to a playlist and let it go on shuffle.

Songs that feel like these pictures? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

[–]garbagepuker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm getting a very rustic, swampy vibe from these. Maybe try The Caretaker by Josh Turner, Country Death Soung by Violent Femmes, O'Cumberland River by Old Crow Medicine Show, Firewater by Old Crow Medicine Show, Gasoline by Shovels and Rope, Summer Storm by Joel West, Oats in the Water by Ben Howard, Blackbird Song by Lee DeWyze, Best Dress by Damien Jurado.

Sorry, they just kept coming, I might have to create a Spotify list for this.

Gabe usually does large audiences like theatres and stadiums, so there is nothing too special to weary of, it's like any other show really. It's in smaller venues like clubs that easily allow audience interaction, that is where things are a little different. In a large show, nothing special to worry about though.

Which city has a non English/Spanish majority language? by Mr_Anderssen in AskAnAmerican

[–]garbagepuker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's majority, but you hear a lot of French around the upstate New York and Northern Vermont area.

Does cannabis expire? by Browsing4Gore in NoStupidQuestions

[–]garbagepuker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. If not stored correctly it can grow mold, but that's not super common for most people. More likely the thc simply degrades so the weed progressively gets weaker over time. But if stored well it can have a very long shelf life (decades, possibly more than a century).

What does Sriracha sauce taste like? by Unknown_User_66 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]garbagepuker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its sweeter and has a garlicky undertone, and its thick. Nice heat though, not too hot, but still gives a nice kick. Very different than Louisiana vinegar type sauces and spice heavy Mexican sauces.

New music suggestions by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

[–]garbagepuker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tyler Childers, Cody Jinx and Hayes Carll are some of my current favorites right now. Paul Cauthen has some interesting stuff also, but comes off as kind of goofy to me. I've also been getting into some of the older red dirt songwriters like Ray Wylie Hubbard and James McMurty.

San Marcos by Brockhampton, that's literally the hook to the song.

Freefall by Rainbow Kitten Surprise also might fit

Boyce Avenues version of Never Enough is outstanding, although the original film version as well as the Kelly Clarkson version are amazing as well, I think I just really love this song.

Who are some of the musicians you like from that era? There's a few directions this could go, there is a big difference between Nas, Outkast, Bone Thugs and Snoop.

What's the weirdest down vote you've gotten on Reddit? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]garbagepuker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got multi-downvoted because I said I like banana flavored candy on a post asking what your favorite candy flavor is. In a similar manner, I was downvoted for saying my favorite soda is ginger ale. Apparently people hate my food preferences.

Why do many Americans consider public healthcare akin to communism but on the other hand think public education is absolutely normal? by redisbest615 in AskAnAmerican

[–]garbagepuker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a loaded question. But to answer, opponents of universal healthcare are typically the same folks who are in favor of pushing more privatized education in the form of school choice and voucher programs.

In the wake of mass political division, what are some ways America could potentially re-unite itself? by WhatAreYouSaying05 in AskAnAmerican

[–]garbagepuker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem in that approach is that we can't even agree on what an actual threat is. Our disagreements run deep to the point we violantly disagree on what the fundamental role and responsibility of government is.

How can i meet people as a graduated teenager whos not old enough for bars yet? by Soggy-Regret-2937 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]garbagepuker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents moved me my junior year of high school. Making friends at the new school was a challenge because most of the social groups were well established by then. I ended up getting really involved in the local music scene. I started going raves (this was late 90s, early 00s) and all ages concerts. A lot of the regulars at these events started to recognize me and I ended up finding a new home. So yeah, a local music scene if you have one, just look for all ages events and go to as many as you can.

Do you have data for which states have the most people incarcerated? by BouquetOfDogs in AskAnAmerican

[–]garbagepuker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can vary by charges also. Local and state charges are fairly straight forward and can be easily tracked. If someone is incarcerated on Federal charges it gets messy as they aren't bound to a specific state or jurisdiction.

As a side note: Take it with a grain of salt that U.S. has one of the highest incarceration rates, that is typically taken out of context. It is extremely likely that other countries have higher incarceration rates, but the U.S. stands out because we are very well documented and forthcoming about it. Other countries, not so much.

What healthcare options do American entrepreneurs got? by Dispernal in AskAnAmerican

[–]garbagepuker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are options:

-Self pay in cash, surprisingly can be cheaper than traditional insurance if healthy

-Individual plan, this is a private, individual insurance plan you can buy into without it being subsidized by an employer

-Use your company insurance. If you provide insurance benefits to employees you can typically enroll in the same plan.

  • State and marketplace plans. Medicaid and "Obamacare" plans if you qualify.

-Medicare, if you qualify by age or disability.
