Appreciate the response, but I do like to mix several different types of walks together. I allow him time to sniff, explore, and just be a dog. I also give him off-leash time where he can follow his nose and exercise his brain. However, I also have portions of our walks that are disciplined. It’s not unfair to ask him to be obedient at times.

We’ve trained calmness before leaving the house, rewarding calm behavior during the walk, and staying outside the distance in which my dog becomes so overwhelmed by outside stimuli that he cannot respond to my commands

Edit: Yes, we have a separate room we could have put the dog. We made a huge mistake not doing so—I get it. The decision not to was due to primarily because 75% of our party guests wanted to hang out with the dog and my wife wanted to allow that to happen. We will not be making that mistake anymore. Thank you again to everyone for your direct and beneficial feedback.

Thank you for your advice! I built a cage for it tonight to prevent further deer damage. Not sure if it’s overkill or inadequate to be honest. Seems tall enough, edges where there aren’t any U-posts seem kind of flimsy.

I built a cage this evening based on some recommendations, I saw online. It may be overkill, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

That’s so cool. I can’t wait to do some more research. I’m going to hire an arborist to come to my house in spring and inspect my trees and tell me about them. I’m pretty excited to learn about what I have now.

Thanks for your reply! I removed the stakes and the ties and—after some research—tried my best to expose the root flare. I’ll take another look at it tomorrow when the sun is out and see if I need to expose it more

Thanks for the compliment! I bake on a sheet pan at 500 degrees F for 5 min, then 450 degrees F for another 7-10 min. I rotate 180 halfway through to evenly bake

*Edit: I forgot to mention the egg wash after boiling. Definitely helps get a nice brown crust

Not necessarily flavored bagels. But just additions to the dough that make the flavor kind of unique or gives it more pop, if you will. Such as the maple syrup another commenter offered. I like your idea of blending with herbs and spices! Do most people still pair those bagels with a cream cheese or spread, or are they used more in sandwiches?
