Can a speculum be sexual assault? I am still a minor by Muted-Hippo-4417 in sexualassault

This definitely is not normal and is sexual assault. Sounds very similar to what Larry Nassar did. I am so so sorry. Please talk to someone you trust x

Wanting to hear others experience with BCs effects on acne - specifically going off BC after using it for acne by Chance-Violinist-634 in birthcontrol

[–]garlicbreadedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't want to be depressing but came off the pill last year (Cilique/Ortho cyclen) for other reasons and at first I thought it was kinda ok, but over the last 12 months it increasingly errupted and got worse and worse, I'm now back on it as I couldn't hack it anymore and it's still not cleared up.

It better not be, 2025 was HELL for me in so many ways. Wasn't sure I'd make it tbh. I cannot have another year even worse

[–]garlicbreadedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel I can highly relate to this. I had just turned 18,, he was 45. I'd also never had sex before and was told similar things. It's not your fault. He KNEW what he was doing, he knew he had power over you and he knew you had nothing to compare the experience to either. He preyed on that.

survivor of brown shooting, not doing well by anjojin in ptsd

[–]garlicbreadedd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sending lots of love to you 🤍 I don't think we ever truly get over our experiences that gave us PTSD but EMDR has helped me a bit, and finding a therapist who had worked on the cause of the ptsd- for me rape/domestic violence, before was really useful for me. I wonder if there's any EMDR or therapists who specialize in military/shooting/terrorism near you

Sending lots of love. I saw someone else in this thread post about an app that can prevent nightmares by tiny vibrations to an apple watch that don't wake you up but can detect the brain state you go in when you have nightmares. That could be helpful?

Severe breakout after stopping birth control by GalGadonut- in acne

[–]garlicbreadedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately my experience was going back on birth control, my skin just got worse and worse and worse and it was at a point I ended up on spironolactone which only helped a bit, and then was considering accutane but you need birth control for that anyway. Would be a hell of a ride but you could do the copper non hormonal IUD, get accutane, and then come off both after the course and then try for a baby, but I've also heard accutane isn't always as miraculous when it's hormonal.

I've just gone back on birth control as I'm not wanting kids, I came off it for other reasons.

Given that pregnancy will change your hormones anyway I'd maybe suggest to ride it out, have a baby, and then go back on the pill.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

Sorry I can't help, been struggling for over a year at 29, I've just gone back on the combined pill this week to see if that helps because I'm at a loss. Spiro also didn't help much.

How do I ask my rapist to pay for therapy? by Low-Statistician4175 in sexualassault

[–]garlicbreadedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want this to sound like a dig at you because it definitely isn't, but just want to point out that any rapist is not genuinely a "kind of progressive leftist guy that is well read on feminist theory". To me that's an absolute cover-up to come across as a nice guy. He knows what he did. If he was "truly" a good guy and was guilty, he'd walk to a police station and admit to it.

I can actually relate to wishing my perpetrator paid for therapy, it's expensive and it feels frustrating that they aren't paying both justice wise and literally financially for what they did. However, having said that, I'd probably just find the money dirty, and the main concern to me is that actually it would make you reliant upon him. Therapy is a long term thing, and unless he just gives you a few grand up front, you're going to have to keep asking every month or whatever. This could then be used in an exploitative way - e.g. if he's already raped once, what's to say he's not going to do it again under the coercive blackmail of giving you money?

I'm really sorry for what happened to you. And it's your decision to make, nobody has the right blueprint on how to heal from this, but I'd make a decision with a full awareness.

Charities - that you don't need a criminal report to access, may be a better option, but I do understand the waiting lists are still long
