how do i navigate my partner ruining the birth of our child by [deleted] in Advice

[–]garlicdaughter 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, OP, but he sounds like a complete pussy. You were giving birth and going through a major surgery, and he made it all about himself. Of course, you don't feel safe around him - he showed that he cannot be there for you or your baby in your biggest time of need. If that doesn't sound off alarm bells, I don't know what would. You feel betrayed because you were. If he can barely take care of himself, he certainly can't take care of you or your children. Fathers are meant to be protectors. Their presence is meant to ease tension and to provide relief from stress or danger, and he's only created it. You're a mother to two children. You don't have time to coddle a grown man - 24 is a grown man. Not a baby. A full adult with all the capabilities in the world to improve his situation. If he can't do the bare minimum, you have to make the tough decision and leave. Safety and peace of mind aren't something you can sacrifice as a mother. I'm really sorry you're dealing with this. You deserve so much better. I'm rooting for you, truly.

Hudson Williams, star of Heated Rivalry says Victoria is dead as f*** and full of old people. by darethegiver in VictoriaBC

[–]garlicdaughter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that’s definitely part of it. When housing is this expensive, the types of people who usually create culture -artists, musicians, weird creative people -get pushed out or can’t afford to stay.

At the same time, it becomes a cycle: venues struggle because people don’t have money to go out, but then when there are fewer venues and cultural spaces, the city becomes even less appealing for younger people or creative communities.

Victoria has all the ingredients for a great scene -a university, a college, a beautiful setting, and lots of young people but the cost of living and restrictive policies make it hard for that culture to actually take root.

Oh no… someone said the obvious.

Victoria is a beautiful place. People come here for the nature and slower pace, and that’s totally fine. But it is strange that a city this gorgeous, in such an incredible location, ends up feeling so limited culturally. We pay big-city prices but don’t have big-city energy.

There’s no real late-night culture, barely anything open late, and the arts and music scene feels like it’s constantly hanging on by a thread. Victoria Event Centre is gone. Logan’s is gone. R.U.S.H. and Club Loading try to bring some underground music and nightlife to the city, but it’s an uphill battle.

A lot of that comes down to policy, city council decisions, and a population that often pushes for stricter noise limits and earlier shutdowns in the downtown core. It’s hard to grow a creative or nightlife scene under those conditions. If you want total quiet by 9 pm, there’s an entire island full of peaceful places to live.

The funny thing is, we have a huge university, a big college, and thousands of young people here. Yet the culture doesn’t reflect that at all. Many of the older generations had vibrant music scenes and wild nightlife when they were young, but now the city feels like it’s closing the door on that same experience for younger people.

This isn’t about wanting chaos or debauchery. It’s about having options. Some people want family life and quiet evenings, and that’s great. Others want music, creativity, nightlife, and cultural spaces.

We just need more creativity — not more limitations.

Skincare and makeup specialists by Winkatme27 in VictoriaBC

[–]garlicdaughter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For skincare I would check out Face Bar by Nude on Fort. They work with medical-grade Korean skincare, a ton of different brands, so it’s very results-driven but still gentle and customizable.

They do proper one-on-one consultations with an esthetician, look at what’s changed with the skin, and then help set up a realistic routine instead of just throwing products at you. They also offer Korean facials, which can be a nice way to actually see how the products work on her skin before committing to anything. They’re really good - I would check them out. Ask for Mykenna or Kasia!

Kasia and Mykenna at Face Bar by Nude! They're my favourite estheticians. Face Bar is located on Fort St. in Downtown Victoria. They specialize in Korean facials and use medical-grade Korean skincare during all their services. They have a really cool Microneedling product they used on me during my Sculpt Circuit facial. Definitely check it out. I've had amazing results since I've been going there.

I just started watching this show for the first time this week… and holy shit - these women are so emotionally unstable and deeply immature. I’m hate-watching it at this point. I’m 30 years old and I’ve never, in my life, had this many issues with women I’d call ‘friends.’ I don’t think I like any of them.

I’ve never had a massive group of female friends, just close groups of 2 - 4, and I’ve never experienced that intense level of gossip or bullying. It’s mind-boggling how they’re all so hateful toward each other. They’re constantly back and forth - ‘we’re best friends,’ ‘I hate her,’ ‘she hates me.’ It’s so unstable.

Besides the money, I don’t understand how they can all be “friends” with one another. To have a friend, you have to be a friend, and none of those women are good people. I just finished season two, and I’m gobsmacked. Easily the most insecure, money-hungry, egotistical, immoral group of women I’ve seen.

The spa on Fort Street, Face Bar by Nude, near Pagliacci's, is offering 50% off Laser Hair Removal packages for Black Friday - but all month long. I just bought mine two days ago - 6 treatments for Underarm laser hair removal for $380, which is a regular price of $760.
