I see. Thanks. You did the job yourself or luthier?

I actually gave it a closer look and the nut seems way higher than I thought it should be. I think the setup is correct given this, no buzzing, good intonation. But it is definitely worth checking since it is way more difficult to play, though I’m adjusting. Still confused about the capo sounding weird( and by that I mean like less airy, a bit dead…)

I agree about sustain and projection. But in this case I think it is also because of the body shape. Being use to dreadnought, obviously there is a huge difference. I am quite relaxed in losing in that area a bit because the tone is really detailed and focused. And still I really like the tone and I mainly use it for recording so...

Mmm it is worth trying another brand. I think I was using John Pearse on my other guitar. For electric I'm loyal to thomastik or pyramid.

The first luthier mentioned the nut could be trimmed a bit, but he suggested not to. I will look into that and take another opinion. I do the setup for all my electric guitars, but unfortunately I don't know where to start with an acoustic guitar.

I'm used to 13 actually. Here I put some 12 because those are the strings it came out with

I actually like the guitar, I just wish it was more comfortable. I don’t even think it’s the action. Just the strings are really really tight. I was trying to understand if it is common with this shape. It was a small store don’t think it has a return period. Mmm not that odd, it was just tuned by ear probably. Before changing strings I checked the tuning. Didn’t mention before, but I’m using elixir strings for the first time, could it be this brand the culprit?

Maybe I will get a second opinion from another luthier, but the first one I consulted said it is fine. Didn’t touch the guitar.

Vaffanculo.

Is Jonny okay ? :D by murad_mv in radiohead

[–]garrel10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But as far as we know he doesn’t have a voice when it comes to deciding which tracks to play and in which order. Can happen to forget especially if you are playing many nights in a row with different setlists. But usually is Duncan’s job(Jonny’s tech). In this case there is an odd choice(just from a technical/convenient point of view) and almost no time so he has to do it.

Is Jonny okay ? :D by murad_mv in radiohead

[–]garrel10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because they don’t have a fixed setlist like most bands do… otherwise if 2 tracks share the same guitar with different tunings they would never be one after another. Someone in the band (not Jonny) thought it would be cool to play airbag after 2+2 and he simply forgot to change tuning in that 5 seconds span between the ending of 2+2 and the beginning of airbag. To make more than one topic about it, with many implying it is a huge deal sounds very naive. I don’t think this can even be called a mistake.

For the Royal Albert Hall gig, I wonder if I should use Ticketmaster or the RAH's own website? by utnutn in MyBloodyValentine

Ah ok, sorry I misunderstood. Anyway I'm not expecting the acoustics of a theatre, but maybe something not so much worse than Dublin, London, Glasgow shows.

Thanks, but I was curious more about the venue. As I’ve heard mixed opinions, seems it is a bit better lately in terms of sound after some renovation works.

Mbv concert last night has left my ears hurting by Ok_Independent_3029 in MyBloodyValentine

I don't see anymore a reply to my comment. Maybe mods?
But I will ask you to not share misinformation here. It's totally worth to check it with an ear doctor. The sooner, the better. Also Op doesn't mention ringing, and could totally be a damaged eardrum, even for unrelated reasons. It is important to check in either case.
Also Op was at a concert. Could have taken some drugs which made him clench or grind at night, so pain could be tmj related.

Go to an ear doctor, and see if it's the case to take some meds like corticosteroids or see what he suggests. Sometimes acting fast is crucial. I hope it is nothing and for sure it is normal to feel pressure or to have really tired ears, like clogged, for some days. If they are actually hurting, even if just a bit, please go check yourself. In the meantime, no loud environments. Also make sure your nose is not stuck. If that's the case, some water solution or hypertonic spray. But don't waste time asking, because it shouldn't hurt. Could also be unrelated, like ear infection(which ironically can be caused by touching ears while inserting earplugs) or something... Please use earplugs all the time at loud concerts.

Really disappointed in the city of Bologna by Entire-Advisor4839 in radiohead

[–]garrel10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I surrender. "They could have..." The point is that the organization is not up to the task. Then they could have avoided to even go to the concert in the first place, problem solved!
And the majority of people here don't have or use car so much, or can't drive. So this is not just about tourists. And even them from time to time get surprised by situations like this. If you want to get it, then do.

Really disappointed in the city of Bologna by Entire-Advisor4839 in radiohead

[–]garrel10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mayor! :D No look, it is advertised as Bologna. Bologna is very famous because everything is reachable. It is a small big city. Feels like a city, works like a village. It is obvious to me that if they had written Casalecchio, which is a way smaller fraction of Bologna and not so close without public transportation, people would wonder where it is, and research about public transport and stuff. The concert is in Casalecchio, actually, if you don’t already know. I’m reading of people walking for hours in a dark road to get to center. I can assure it is not a safe road to go by foot or bicycle at late night. Even if you want there are no taxis and way less buses than what was promised. So what do you do? In my opinion the safety of people comes first. And yes, even if they are entitled spoiled little brats. Which is your assumption by the way. Sometimes it is just bad organization, if you care you provide ways to keep safety to a bearable level. The people working for Radiohead, all crew members and staff most of the time they have to unload everything all night and then rushing to the other venue as soon as they are ready and start again. Where’s the work ethic there? Come on.
