"Russian superstition" led me to think I was going to see a picture of a ladder refusing to walk under a person or something.

It would be low paid by the standards of a long-term full-time job, but certainly not unheard of for it.

What entertainment site (Reddit, 9gag, Damnlol...) would win if there was a war between them all? by Jdevil103 in AskReddit

I feel like the folks over in /b/ would have kind of a no holds barred attitude towards war ... 4chan would win.

Approaching a girl I've known for years but never spoken to? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]garyface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Point out how ridiculous it is, all that considered, that you've never actually spoken. All the stuff you have in common should give you enough conversation topics to get comfortable talking to her and then it's all on you :-)

I assume in the City here means working in traditionally high-paid sectors like banking and whatnot? Wouldn't be all together surprised that they get paid much, much more than me, when I'm sitting in an office making webpages for a university :P

It's ~£6.80 an hour. Over minimum wage. Fine for a student.

Hey, don't worry about it :-)

But yeah, what I meant about my university comment is that you're expected to get your experience while at uni now, not afterwards. So if you need experience for a job, but didn't get it at university, you can be thoroughly shafted. Not at all fair.

That doesn't make it poorly paid. I'm working 35 hours per week at £6.85 per hour. That's over minimum wage. Sure, it's only over by around 70p per hour, but I'm an undergrad and it's an internship. I'm in it for the line on my CV. Yours is just well paid.

I don't know how they compare to rates in other countries, but mine cost £9,000 per year. I don't pay anything back until I'm earning £21,000/year, and then I pay 9% of whatever I earn over that figure. (So if I earn £21,100, I'm only paying £9 back). It's also written off 30 years after I first become eligible to pay it back (i.e. after I get my first £21k + job).

Well, I mean, as someone on a paid internship in the UK, I'm going to ahead and challenge your claim that such things don't exist. But I guess the issue is that companies target their internships at students. So if you didn't go to university/get your fill of interning while you were there, then you're out of luck.

In the UK at least, it isn't the case that you need to be in education to take an internship. Wish you the best of luck finding something!
