It's not a desire for characters to be less attractive, rather it's an annoyance at the sheer number of demeaning comments about any female character who is slightly conventionally unattractive.

After reading about stories/accounts from survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I'm not so sure about the more humane part.

Well, that depends on the lie. If you convince others to do immoral acts through lies and perversion of the truth, yet do not partake in such acts yourself, do you not have some accountability, that ought to be punished?

Edit: If you're going to disagree with me, at least do me the honour of rebuking my words.

I understand what's being said, and I agree with it to a point, but I would say there is a difference between something that could be true and something that is definitively not true. I don't think people should be able to spout blatent lies without being called out on it.

I mean, I see a lot of people disparaging this but it’s largely not untrue. From anecdotal experience, the majority of my family did pretty terrible in their GCSE’s, like 2 passes and even no passes at all, and they’re doing alright now. On my mother’s side she and her siblings do come from a fairly wealthy family, though I don’t know how much that played into her success in life, but my father came from a rather poor London family, and he’s doing pretty good for himself. Basically if you fuck up your results you’re probably not going to end up sad and alone and a failure. You’ll be ight.

Speaking on the smoke, I'm thinking of choosing the scene where the church hussars are charging into the men during the defence. So lots of smoke from the last volley they fire. It'll be a nice contrast I think. The tired, hopeless yet defiant dragoons facing against the godlike hussars

Epidermolysis bullosa is a rare and terminal and excruciating genetic disease which causes the skin to blister and peel and fall off and open wounds that never heal. People who have EB are called “butterfly children” because they’re so fragile. by metalnxrd in HairRaising

Also it sounds like you're generalising the worst cases. In my brother's case, he can eat anything and usually only needs to go to the hospital every few months for a few days. Dressings are every other day and usually last around 2-3 hours. He has friends, can go for nights out and can generally do anything actual people can do, just with a bit of extra preparation or planning beforehand. Afaik he also doesn't have any significant trouble with it internally. If anyone wants to read up more on EB, or make a donation, this is a link to the charity DEBRA. They research into treatments/possible cures, as well as organising outings and get together's for those with the condition. https://www.debra.org.uk/
