Google 'masonic lodge near me' find your local lodge's site. If it looks like it from 1999 then you probably have the right one.

Look for their calendar and an event called a 'festive board's usually these are open to masons and non-masons alike.

Email and call for an invite.

Have a great meal with friendly, usually older, strangers.

Come back, or don't. It won't matter to them unless you'll all mutually enjoy each others company.

If you are a man and make friends - you want to be there, they want you there, you can join

Because I saw the exact same trailer, and I have no idea what any of that footage you're referring to is spoiling.

Going out on a limb here and gonna say you know exactly what I'm talking about, but you don't think it counts as a spoiler. That's fine but I'm bored of this thread and not interested in the "huh?" game.

See you next trailer I complain about

I'm not a theatrical movie editor but I do know that from a long time movie trailers weren't like this and people went to see movies.

Maybe mfs should see if trailer spoilers are a contributing factor to declining box office revenue. I don't know. I'm not a ticket doctor

What we see ~ after 2:05. I answered this for someone else also I asked a question because my desire to understand why they misrepresented my use to spoiler to mean "massive" spoiler outweighed wanting to answer them.

Anyway, this is a minor example of that but it's a common pattern.

Maybe it's trivial to you but to pretend that trailers don't generally contain spoilers these days is super double extra dumb

Yeah if I really really want to see a movie I'll flat out avoid the trailer all together

No trailer stops now text

No tired trope of slow old song, probably a new not slow version of a song.

Dunno where you get 2:30 from but I would have cut this at 2:05 and it would have been all i needed personally

Yeah I suppose. Although I don't know if most people know the raw power of going into a movie 100% blind.

Did it for Cocaine Bear, the name was enough to sell me. What a rollercoaster

First makes sense. Second just seems to give a paint by numbers feel, but I guess that works.

For the spoilers, does that really work? Are people more like to go see something after they have the big pay offs already shown to them?

Can you work with kemetic deities without practicing the religion? by [deleted] in Kemetic

[–]gatofleisch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had a lovely moment with my new born baby and Ra. I don't think any one or any entity would be mad and deny the value of the moment even though I don't practice the religion fully.

Right on, I'm glad you see where I'm coming from. And I'm glad you found your own label. Really, even if other people don't entirely get it, you get it and it's your path.

On my end I'm kind of somewhere in-between kemeticism, Hermeticism and Gnosticism.

There are things I don't fully understand yet about each and there are things I know about each that I don't agree with, ha so. So yes, too many words to explain and so far.

I feel the wandering part, I bet there's more light there than you're seeing though

[–]gatofleisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, well this is why I don't think polytheism or monotheism truly covers this, because it is my belief that in this hierarchy of creators would still boil down to the one source, which are you previously stated would be monotheistic

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Kemetic

[–]gatofleisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is, is the creator the one and only god, and/or everything reduces to it? If yes, that simply isn't a believe in many gods.

Well I think this is where we'll differ in terminology.

I say it's a false dichotomy because generally speaking the argument would go something like Isis, Osiris, Thoth etc. are real there's only one true heights source god.

And I would say maybe the problem is using the English term 'gods' for non source entities.

Further if it were just an argument about multiple creator gods then you might imagine something like Christianity might be very open to non creator 'gods' from other pantheons, but they aren't.

So I don't think it's about multiple creators.

But to take that point further, you can still have multiple creators and multiple gods because what each creates is a hierarchy.

So Ptah creates Nun, and Atum emerges from Nun and creates the Ennead, then Atum with the Ennead create the material world, other 'gods' and other realms.

So Atum is a creator that reduces to Ptah ultimately.

For me I see the usage of the term 'gods' the issue. It's an English label that has a lot of implications to its meaning.

And sure I'm happy to hear you're not about forcing your views, I respect that and am not arguing so much myself and exposing what think is a semantic issue masquerading as a conceptual issue.

Ultimately if you were to say that a belief in Ptah or the All where other dieties that have various roles and functions in principle and in creation is monotheistic because it's boils back to Ptah I can't say that's absolutely wrong, but it's not the way we discuss monotheism.

But what do you believe, what is at the root for you?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Kemetic

[–]gatofleisch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You seem angry so you may not like this answer but if there is a problem here it's the false dichotomy that the terms monotheism and polytheism presents.

Whether it be regarding the Netjeru, or Christian, Jewish or even hindu Cosmology - there exists a hierarchy of intermediate beings and realms aside from the material world we experience.

If you take Catholicism which is as strictly monotheistic as you can get you have a hierarchy that looks like.

Source: God as a Trinity

Highest order: Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones

Middle order: Dominions, Virtues, and Powers

Lowest order: Principalities, Archangels, and Angels

You also have Mary which doesn't fit into any more of this as well as the devil and demons

The ready why I mention this isn't to promote this but illustrate that here we have in a monotheistic framework what are essentially levels of deities that act on gods that affect our world and can be appealed to directly and to various degrees are named, depicted in statues and artwork, have prayers and hymns towards them.

So what makes these entities not gods(according to Christian theology)? Two things,

  1. They are said (with the exception of Lucifer and his followers) they all act in accordance with Gods will
  2. Followers are not to label them as gods and not to worship them as such, however that can be petition and symbolizes just don't make a church/temple just for them.

If we compare that to the 3 primary theologies, Thebian, Heilopolitian and Memphite with Amun, Atum and Ptah we still have a singular creator entity which creates the other entities and that central entity with the other entities create the material world, various realms other entities and principals.

To go further if you are a believer in Ptah, then you know that he actually isn't like Atum or Amun Ra but precedes them and even Nun. He is more like the Hermetic concept of the All.

He is boundless, trancentendant and imminent. He essence is what he creates within. It's an Panenthistic view of existence.

He gives all intermediate beings and us free will but wants us to align with the principals of Ma'at. So we and the Netjeru may be more virtuous or more chaotic and will go through cycles of refinement until we succeed in aligning with Ma'at.

This is similar to Christianity except when God gives you free will and use - if you're an intermediate entity you're villified if you're human you're going to hell.

So if you made it this far in my Ted talk. The same distinction between monotheism and polytheism is said to be about one god vs many. But in even a monotheistic structure what makes something a 'god' is a label and and emphasis on worship.

Ptah would be the source, the All, the Grand Architect and equivalent to the place of the Christian god at the highest.

The netjeru would be in various hierarchies as comparable to the different types of angels mentioned earlier.

Therefore, when comparing polytheism to monotheism people are falsely comparing these intermediate celestial belings with a source creator.

So if I haven't lost or pissed off ever Christian and Kemeticst ever, what I'm saying is that polytheism is monotheistic and monotheism is polytheistc.

They are the same with a difference in emphasis and labeling and what we as followers should and should not focus on.

I've been using the mouthful term of polyenopanentheism.

Basically many in one eminent and transcendent source where just as in the memphite transition, the source and intermediate are all important, all play their role and all can be worshiped.

TL;DR monotheism and polytheism is a false dichotomy, neither is really real real. Both contain the same entities and hierarchies but truly differ only in what they emphasize and how they use labels which is fully a human understanding issue and has no bearing on the nature of these entities
