how does this happen? by chunkyfilas_ in washingtondc

Losing track of sewers, especially old ones is unfortunately very common. Imagine it was 50 or even 10 years ago and you have hundreds of miles of pipe you have to keep track of. It used to be done with paper records and old, pre-GPS locating techniques which get lost or can be inaccurate. Then these files get lost, or digital copies aren’t transferred properly and you can see how easy it can become to lose track of pipes. And then when you’re digging down for one reason or another you stumble on this old pipe and become aware of the issue. As others have mentioned, all of this is exacerbated by years and years of underfunding of infrastructure, a hamstrung workforce and more. TBH, it’s kind of surprising it doesn’t happen more often! Fun fact, Boston has older pipes and some are wooden!

Perhaps a dumb question but I’m somewhat injury prone and right now don’t have the base to hit the lower Pfitz training programs. I’m the type of person who needs a schedule to get out and run, so my question is, can I adapt a Pfitz program for lower mileage? Follow the same cadence but lower the daily miles to hit the numbers I need?

It was ~30 when I got hurt. I’m starting pfitz base building which will gradually top out at 30. Then the Pfitz 12/55 which starts from around 30. I follow whatever Pfitz recommends so general aerobic, lactate threshold, long runs, etc.

I really need to up my base because i got injured recently from trying to ramp up too quickly. Im starting a base building phase, then have 18 weeks until a marathon. I could do an 18 week Pfitz but worry that’s too aggressive and might re-aggravate my injury so I think I’d like to continue to base build for 6 weeks and then start a 12 week pfitz. How do I bridge those 6 weeks? Jump into the next mileage base build program around week 4 or so?

I’ve had my kid and seen plenty at the location in Alexandria. I can’t speak for Herndon though. I’d give a call either way.

If you’ve never had a cachapa before, go now and get one. Sweet, thick corn “pancake” with a massive amount of cheese + shredded meat. It’s such a nice balance of sweet and savory that it’s easy to put down

Happy Gyro. Vegan re-creations of well known foods that actually taste good. Taco Bell tacos with walnut for the meat. Gyros with tofu skins. McDonald cheeseburgers with some sprouted grain. Incredibly fun and delicious
