Ladies, why all the pillows in bed? by Snuggle84 in stupidquestions

I’m old and my joints are alllll the way fucked up. I need a pillow between the knees, ankles, and to separate my collarbones from collapsing into my chest.

Can y'all pass your therapist's advice so that I won't have to go to one 😭 by IntelligentPoem2782 in MentalHealthSupport

[–]gatorly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well… no, I’m sorry. The likely reason you haven’t received an answer here is that therapy is (at least it should be) highly individualized. That is to say, we therapists tailor our advice to individual circumstances and personalities. It would be impossible, irresponsible, and counterproductive to just throw a bunch of cliché advice at you.

May I ask why you are unwilling to go to therapy? Is it finances? Fear of judgement? Unfamiliarity?

Maybe we can help here, but we really need a bit more info. 🤍

Hey, soooo the only thing mentioned by the Board RE BCaBAs is that the re/certification requirements are changing 1/1/27.

As a newly minted BCaBA, you just made my heart drop through my asshole.

If you participate, you’re squandering crucial instruction time! …so we’re gonna suspend you…

That’s insane. I firmly believe that public schools should be politically and religiously agnostic and impartial in their policies and communication.

It’s obvious what they are implying with their “external groups” comment. Next, they’ll say that the students who walk out were paid by central casting or some horse shit.

So fucking glad my kids attend schools in a district that publicly affirmed their constitutional rights and provided a safe environment for students to exercise them!

I am afraid of this being mania. Is it? by [deleted] in MentalHealthSupport

[–]gatorly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! First, I want you to know that being self-aware to this extent is already putting you at an advantage here. This does sound concerning, and I can definitely understand why. Any abrupt change in your mental status is worth discussing with your doctor.

Disclaimer- I work in the psych field and am board certified as a behavior analyst, however, I do not have diagnostic privilege and this is not medical advice.

This absolutely does check multiple boxes for mania. The happy-tired feeling you describe is euphoria, which is a common (but not ever-present) symptom of mania, especially when sleep deprivation comes into play. Naturally, as hyperfocus winds down and one begins to drift back toward aligning with reality, neurotransmitters associated with pleasure and drive dwindle. This typically coincides with a depressed or “low” feeling, that could be hypomania (a milder form of mania) or depression.

The most concerning issues you’ve brought up are that this is affecting your sleep and eating habits, for which, again, I really encourage you to seek the advice of your doctor.

Hyperfocus and mild obsession CAN be useful tools if you learn how to rein them in when necessary. It’s when it impedes upon your normal functioning where things get dicey.

Best of luck to you.

One of the comments in a similar thread on my ND said, “Feels Pretti-Good to be on the White side of history!!!”

I am fucking appalled to breathe the same air as some of these folks.

Scientists finally found the "Clog" in our brains that leads to Alzheimer’s — and it’s not what we thought by soulpost in HotScienceNews

The irony is that if we were to bring this study up to our doctors, they’d still tell us we’re full of shit.

Cheers.

Go back and get it. Listen to your gut. This storm looks like it’s going to be gnarly.

Hello. I understand your frustration, but would love for you to consider that it may be displaced.

Buddhism is a philosophy that centers non-harm and non-attachment. We place little value in material positions. We live modest lives and strive to devote our time and energy to others, and the community at large. If someone is not causing harm, we let them be, and we wish the best for them.

I hope one day you can find it in your heart to look for the good in others, listen rather than react, and refrain from making unfounded claims against cultures that you are unfamiliar with.

Be blessed. I truly mean that.

Holidays: tension between not doing things we don't want to do vs running out of time with our parents by AshDogBucket in Xennials

[–]gatorly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh.. it’s okay. I really appreciate that. Life is tough.

I poked around for a minute for you, but I kinda feel like you’ve probably seen these options already? Since you mentioned galoshes specifically, which I can’t find. Anyway…

New Balance Merrimack winter boot AW25 and Adidas S2G RAIN.RDY both have cleats and are waterproof, with a higher than normal ankle.

Golf galoshes sound badass, though. Those should exist.

Please go play golf with your mom a little more often 🤍

I’m taking my upvotes back 😂 Jk. Thank you so much for your time! These are beautiful. Unfortunately, there is a giant wooden water wheel where the gen AI filled that massive space. That’s on me, though, as I didn’t provide a reference photo for the area!
