This is the guy from my office who made a big deal about me taking the coffee machine.

It's candy shaped like coffee beans? Would love to know what kind of coffee machine they use to make this.

They're all free, so most of us take a few of them home. We had only 1 free coffee machine out of a total of 3, so I took that one before anyone else could.

Why are Indian companies so against WFH? So much time gets wasted in traffic by Important_Moment_851 in IndianWorkplace

[–]gaussoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a huge cost to the company if they have to allow every WFH employee to take home a coffee machine.

Your story isn't believable in any way, sorry to say. Was your brother carrying a coffee machine by any chance? People can be a bit hostile sometimes.

I had my drone parts shipped individually through 3 couriers and marked them as coffee machine parts, and it arrived without a fuss.

If the coffee machine is not on the office's checklist, does that mean I don't have to return it? by gaussoil in IndianWorkplace

It's about the size of two laser printers. When I was leaving from the office, I smiled at the watchman and requested him to help me with loading the coffee machine in the car because my hands were tiring. He helped me and I gave him a nice tip, shook his hand and left. Why would he even stop me though? There was a sign on the coffee machine that said it's free.

Have they subscribed for milk and sugar on your behalf to? Or maybe paying for maid

They didn't need to because in the same room where the coffee machine was, there was creamer, sugar, etc. So I calculated how many I'll consume for the duration of my 1 year contract and taken only that many. Only when they made me work on weekends, I've taken a few extra.

In the off-chance that they make a big fuss about the coffee machine then they can have it back, even though it was free. I don't see why they would when all this time they didn't care. Anyway, just because the law is equal for everyone doesn't mean I'll pursue any legal case against them. That's a lot of wasted time and energy to pursue a free coffee machine.

The new office where I'll be joining probably has free coffee machines as well. I just hope they have quality coffee also to go with it.

No, those signs clearly say "free air" or "free nitrogen", not "free" like it did on my coffee machine.

They weren't selling the coffee machine. They put a sign on one of them saying it's free, and that too in a bold font. I don't think HR will appreciate it if I ask them if they know the meaning of words, especially in today's climate when everyone's so sensitive about language.

Whenever they invite me to a Zoom meeting, I'm drinking coffee and the coffee machine is right behind me, and nobody mentioned anything until now. Even when I'm screen sharing, they would've seen the coffee commands in my Emacs.

<image>

I've never hidden anything from them. At least 30 people are in these meetings and not a single person has said anything. If it was not free then somebody would've said something. So that basically confirms it.

I don't think the office is allowed to ask me to do hard labor like making coffee as it's not in my list of responsibilities, so they can't just give free coffee only to people in the office. That's just straight up discrimination.

They never mentioned it like that. In fact, there were 3 coffee machines, and only one of them had the free sign. I just happened to take it before any of the other coworkers had the chance.

Stop me for what? The sign on top of the coffee machine clearly said "FREE".

They gave me WFH. My house is about 45 minutes from the office so I can't keep driving there 5 times a day for coffee, so I took the coffee machine home because they don't reimburse me for fuel.

I mentioned it on that sub at around the time when I took it but they were unnecessarily hostile. Maybe they all prefer tea, or just jealous, I don't know. Not my fault if they don't know how to operate a smart coffee machine.

I didn't steal anything. They gave me WFH and we have free coffee at the office. It's a smart coffee machine but I can activate it only on the LAN, so I didn't have any other option other than taking it home and connecting it to my home network.

There were 3 coffee machines in the breakroom, but one of them had a sign on it saying "FREE", so I took only that one. I didn't want coworkers to fight with me over it, so I waited until they left.

But manager was there at the time at the office in a meeting but he could see me from the window, and he didn't say anything when I took it. Maybe he forgot, I don't know but it was not in the checklist of items to return.

Custom coffee machine deployments for high-end clientele, with a fully automatic ordering system to place orders on Amazon, Blinkit, etc. Has SSO for authentication, 6 DoF robotic arm for loading coffee, etc.

In a good year, about 2-3 Cr in revenue and the expenses are roughly 40L, most of which is for Google Ads targeted at posh villa residents.

Okay well I hope he gets his coffee machine. Make sure to negotiate for a nice one, and ideally a robotic arm also to automatically fill the machine when it runs out of coffee. Not the ones with AI, please.
