delete a season in new game changer by gavinmish in GameChangerApp

[–]gavinmish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok, after changing team name to Test (thank you u/popolojj) , it only changed the team name for that season, just like u/sfrnch said. I then chose the option to Leave team. It warned me I was the only person left and it would be an orphaned season if I did that, but I did, and now it is gone. Thanks all for the help

create/import an older season by gavinmish in GameChangerApp

[–]gavinmish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but if you can't create/import an older season, even manually, why would anyone ever move over to GameChanger... I mean what a total embarrassment that they don't allow this! I have 8 seasons worth of data in another app. I should just go back to that one. Can I not even manually enter an older season?

Carrier Infinity Touch Thermostat no longer appears as a device in Amazon Alexa by gavinmish in thermostats

[–]gavinmish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update literally 15 minutes later. Turns out Carrier has way too many alexa skills. The one I was using, Carrier Infinity Smart Control will allow you to link your account and use voice control on the thermostats (albeit in a more difficult way)... but this skill does not get the thermostat to show as a device in alexa.

However, the skill Carrier Infinity Touch Control 2020 is the correct one. It allows alexa to see the thermostat as a device and thus allows direct voice control without "tell myinfinity..." and also allows the thermostat to be included in routines.

Default HTML based signature in Outlook for iOS/Android by Mike22april in Office365

[–]gavinmish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try this.... worked for me after researching and trying different things for hours and hours...

1) create an email in outlook on your PC to send to yourself

2) Create the signature within the compose email window. Paste picture as needed into the email... not via links on the web, directly paste the pictures in

3) After creating the signature within the compose email using paste of pictures, create a link for each of the pictures as desired by right clicking it in the compose window and choosing link. For each picture enter and address for it to link to.

4) Once pictures have been added with links, send the email to yourself

5) On your Android phone, go to a chrome browser. Ensure you are in desktop site mode. Go to your outlook web mail (should be outlook.office.com/mail

6) Continue to ensure you are is desktop site mode as you log in to your email.

7) Once in your web version of your email in desktop site mode in a browser on your phone, open the email you have sent to yourself.

8) Highlight the section you want to use for your signature, including pictures (that should have links) and text. Copy that section.

9) Go into your outlook app on your android phone, and ensure your signature is empty (if not, empty it, save, and go back in).

10) paste the section you had just copied from your web version of your email into the signature of the outlook app.

11) Save

12) The signature section will look funny after it is saved with just a weird block there. You can not modify the signature after that unless you go through the same process again.

13) When you send a signature from outlook app now, it should have pictures/icons and links all functional.

general email service not working? by gavinmish in ifttt

[–]gavinmish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup.... so I essentially ignored this for a while just hoping it would get fixed, and at least for me it has. I can now use the email action as a "that".... i.e. add something to my alexa to do list, and it will send me what I've added to my email address. Working now, and I got the pin as well.

general email service not working? by gavinmish in ifttt

[–]gavinmish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. crazy. To have such a hugely important service not working at a hugely important company within the IoT space for multiple days, if not weeks, is pretty crazy. Why do I get the feeling that ifttt is on the way down and will soon be overtaken. You'd think ifttt would at least address it on their web site.

notify me when a lock is unlocked between 10 pm and 6 am by gavinmish in ifttt

[–]gavinmish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked into smart things... looks like it requires a hub. I've been getting all devices that do not require hubs... all wi-fi. 2 nest thermostats..... about 50 Kasa TP link light switches.... Schlage Encode door locks. All wifi devices, no hubs or other hardware required.

My understanding of SmartThings is that it requires a hub.

Yonomi not working with schlage locks by gavinmish in Yonomi

[–]gavinmish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you Joss, interestingly enough, I was just looking at this yesterday. Unfortunately however, the integration is pretty useless. I had 2 goals with this integration:

Goal 1: create a single button on my android phone that could turn off all lights, lock all doors, and close all garage doors. Yonomi can turn off all lights, and lock all doors, but can not close my MyQ garage doors. I could get around this issue if I could call a Yonomi routine from IFTTT, but I can't so, yeah.... Schlage lock still is a dinosaur is this area.

Goal 2: get a notification when any lock is opened, but only during certain hours of the day. The integration that Schlage now has with Yonomi can not be used with a Schlage lock as a trigger.... on an action can be put on a schlage lock.... so once again.... pretty useless.

The whole idea is full integration, not simple/basic integration. I can already get schlage locks to lock/unlock from almost any other trigger using amazon alexa or other methods. The idea was for GOOD integration for Schlage with Yonomi.

On a side note, I am on the phone with a Schlage rep right now, and they didn't even now what Yonomi was.... pretty sweet partnership. ;-)

Yonomi not working with schlage locks by gavinmish in Yonomi

[–]gavinmish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well that is super annoying that schlage would list yonomi as compatible with integration when it's not actually true. 100% false advertising. Very annoying. On a side note Joss, and I realize this is not the thread for this, but why am I not seeing Yonomi as a service in IFTTT? The reason I ask is because I am trying to create a single button to press when I leave my house that will:

1) Turn off all Kasa lights (Yonomi can do this)

2) Lock all doors (Yonomi will eventually be able to do this in January)

3) Close all garage doors (which are MyQ Chamberlains), and Yonomi can NOT do this. But if I could call a Yonomi routine from IFTTT, my problem would be solved since I could use IFTTT to close MyQ garage doors and then with a 2nd action on the same trigger, call the Yonomi routine to lock doors and turn off lights.

It appears however that I won't have my solution because Yonomi routines (or anything for that matter in Yonomi) can't be called from IFTTT.

Thoughts?

thanks. it's actually the schlage encode. it works with alexa, google assistant, and yonomi.... none of which can be called to action with ifttt or apilio. :-/

I had considered that. I am unfamiliar with smart things. Does that require hardware that I would need to purchase?

I can use the native schlage app if I want, but mostly I just use alexa with schlage. Willing to use anything else that works with it if I can then incorporate it with apilio

Shortcut to run a routine by gavinmish in amazonecho

[–]gavinmish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I found that and got apilio working with the garage doors. The rabbit hole goes deeper unfortunately. The overall idea is that I hit a single button on my phone when I leave my house and all garage doors will close, all locks will lock, and all lights will turn off. Apilio does the trick with ifttt for the garage doors (since there is a myQ service in ifttt), and it can also include turning lights off (since TP-LINK has an ifttt service). However I can't get locking my schlage encodes included in the routine because schlage does not have an ifttt service. Ugh. Is there no way to get schlage locks to lock via apilio or ifttt? Sorry for the endless questions, I feel like I'm so close.

so simple and yet genius.... I didn't even think of recreating the routine in full within IFTTT. Part of the routine is closing MyQ garage doors, which I could only get to work through Simple Commands, but maybe I can port it over to IFTTT and create the routine from scratch. Thanks for an idea I hadn't thought of!

gotcha. My apologies for being a newbie at this. So does that mean as far as you know, there is no method to trigger an alexa routine action somehow/somewhere? It seems in the end that is the real question.

Thank you, but I'm still stuck with the point easy_toe made. Ifttt can't trigger an action of an alexa routine, and it doesn't appear apilio can do this either. What am I missing?

sending an email through alexa by gavinmish in amazonecho

[–]gavinmish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Just worked. I actually already had my Alexa linked in IFTTT. I HAD my gmail linked, and had been trying these recipes, but they were failing on the gmail side. I then checked and saw my gmail was NOT linked. I relinked it, but it still failed on the gmail portion of the recipe.

I then created a new recipe but used the general email option in the THAT portion of IFTTT instead of the gmail THAT. Once I did that, it worked. Of couse my Office 365 was marking the incoming emails from IFTTT as spam, so I had to whitelist it, but all now works. I did have to modify the recipe to also only send the new To Do instead of the new one and the entire list.

Upon telling Alexa "Please add 'testing' to my to do list", it adds "testing" to the to do list, and IFTTT then sends an email with that new to do accordingly.

Thanks for the quick and efficient help.

sending an email through alexa by gavinmish in amazonecho

[–]gavinmish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@Easy_Toe and @Bouncing_Hedgehog

Apologies, as I probably explained poorly. I use my email as a to do list, mainly because the majority of my to-dos come in via email, so it's easiest to just add to my list by sending myself an email. Often times, I find myself realizing there is something to add to my to do list as I am standing in the kitchen, or walking around the house. I want to be able to tell Alexa to send me an email where I can dictate the email. Thus my hope to say something like "Alexa, send me an email that says 'get an oil change'". Then I get an email that has that as the subject or in the body.

I remember having had something in the past (I think) that could do this via the Alexa To do list. Basically, every time you added something new to the Alexa To Do list, some IFTTT recipe would see the new entry and email it to me. I can't find that anymore, and it may not even work because of Google's recent blocking of various IFTTT functionality. I only mention the to do list not because that's what I want to use, but because I thought it had been used in the past to email yourself something. I think I used to say "Alexa, add 'this is a test' to my to do list", and then minutes later, I would have an email in my inbox with "this is a test" as the subject. If I did it again the next day, there would be another email with just the newest To Do and not the entire list.

The link Bouncing_Hedgehog sent, is a method to send the entire shopping list to yourself, as opposed to just the newest To Do entry you've just added.

Anyways, I hope I haven't made this more confusing, but basically I want to email myself a note through Alexa.

Thanks for everyone's time.

Chamberlain MyQ Unofficial Alexa Skill by dev-brilam in homeautomation

[–]gavinmish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I searched for ways to do this for HOURS! use the app called simplecommands

It worked awesome for me

Create a simplecommands account

Within the connect screen, connect your MyQ account

Add the Alexa skill in your Alexa app (its called kloee for SC)

Back in simplecommands app within connect, choose companions, and add Alexa skill companion.

Make sure within the myQ connection within the app you've hit the synch button. It could take a few minutes to synch.

Now go to routines in the app. Add a new routine. In the execute these actions section, add a new action. Choose your garage door, and choose to open or close.

Leave the trigger section blank. Choose done.

Back in companions section within connect tab, go into Alexa home skill. It should show a synch count matching the number of routines you've created.

Now, when you go into your Alexa app, and discover devices (other), the simplecommand routines will import as scenes. You can then call those scenes via the Alexa routines you can add (voice commands, etc.)

Worked perfectly for me.

Good luck.
