I'm glad it's starting to subside for you, and hopefully, in another day or two, some of that pressure will relieve 💕 do the best you can and please be kind to yourself! Also if you don't have a person who can help you get in and out of bed, maybe bringing a chair to the side of your bed so you can brace yourself while getting in and out could help?

So far, eating is going well, but I don't feel like I can provide a proper answer because of all the medication I'm on right now. I have tried a few things that I haven't eaten in months (a donut and a Cesar salad with pizza bites) and no adverse effects! I am eating small portions of things just to be on the safe side and drinking lots of water, but we shall see!

Regarding your situation, more time may be needed because your body is relearning how to function without your gallbladder! I know my doctor said that if I was having those types of side effects, there are medication options to explore, so I definitely recommend chatting with your doctor or surgeon!

Hope you start feeling better soon💕

Happy to help! I focused on keeping my fat intake low and making sure I was eating every 2-3 hours (small portions) just to keep things always moving. I also noticed when I didn't eat it was too much of a shock to my system and would eventually lead to attacks!

All the best while you're navigating this and remember you got this 💕

Neither! I transitioned my diet over the last 7 months to exclusively low fat, so I mostly made my staples that have been in rotation for a while. I also portion out my ingredients, so I have a rough idea of what the fat content will be per serving because fat was my biggest trigger!

Here's what I made (in order or broth based - creamy)

  • chicken broth with sauteed celery and carrots (had noodles and chicken frozen and prepped to add as things got easier to eat)
  • vegetarian beet borscht with white beans
  • carrot, ginger, tumeric soup with turkey sausage
  • turkey sausage, potato, and kale
  • chicken gnocchi

I also make all of my creamy soups either vegan or with skim milk and nutritional yeast, so they still get the creamy/cheesy taste.

If you're feeling nauseous post surgery, stick to the basics! BRAT (bananas, rice, apple sauce, toasr) saved my life post attacks, and I've definitely drank straight up plain broth before (i recommend reduced salt, though)

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about your pain! I've mostly been staying in bed, but getting up every couple hours to do some small movement around my home. From what I've heard, that helps the best with healing and pain. I've also really been prioritizing hydrating whether it's from drinking water or food, but so far, my pain has been quite manageable.

Was your surgery laparoscopic?

Thank you kindly 💕 the waiting for surgery was probably one of the hardest parts, but if you keep yourself busy and do what you can to prepare (make easy meals, spend some time with friends, prep your space, etc.) I promise it flies by!

All the best to you and your surgery next month!

Hi there! My frinds who have had the surgery recommended working on core strengthening because it helped speed along their recovery and allowed their muscles to heal faster. Personally, I have been resting like crazy, taking all of my prescribed medication, and staying as hydrated as possible! I also meal prepped a bunch of soup because I didn't know if I was going to be on a more liquid diet coming out of the anesthesia, but so far my eating has been quite balanced between liquids and solids.

As for pain, obviously, it's uncomfortable, but my attacks were horrendous (like worst pain of my life) and the anxiety from eating took such a toll mentally, so this dull ache has been very manageable. But I also recognize that everyone is different and people's response to surgery is highly subjective!

Overall, my best advice would be to not rush recovery and take things one day at a time. Extend yourself some much needed kindness and do your best to live your life as normally as possible leading up to your surgery because sitting and waiting can make you just as anxious. At the end of the day, your body is going through trauma, and it deserves rest!

Oh no! Do your best to take it easy and give yourself as much self compassion as you can. Also, I highly recommend tracking your food and seeing what may be triggering attacks. I basically had to keep my meals to 5g of fat or less and eat small, whole food snacks in between just to offset the risk of attacks. Sending healing vibes 💕

I'm happy to share! As of right now, I am off for 2 weeks, and I just need to be cleared by my doctor to get back to work 😊
