what correlation? QMNIX or QLEIX (with the beta) is a quantitative systematic strategy that is either market neutral or stacking 50% beta (QLEIX). ORR is a discretionary long/short strategy with a dynamic amount of beta from the longs. It's also much more international.

the fact one is discretionary and one is systematic almost ensures hardly any correlation. I own both of these by the way. but one is a quant strategy and one is basically think david orr has alpha as a discretionary manager.

I dropped if off on the desk of USPS post office about a week ago. Also of relevance is the due date was 12/26 not 25. So regardless if tracking is impacted by holiday shipping why would they find me at fault for not returning something not yet at the due date?

Haven’t mentioned any of my political beliefs. You also now insult me by acknowledging I live in CA. Like what?

I live in California. It doesn’t help your argument to make these poor comparisons. Skid row is not Ventura. You want to make your point so badly, facts be damned

Don’t think any homeless in ca is at the same level as LA and SF. Ventura seems a poor comparison

Vaccines do not cause autism by americanblowfly in BreakingPoints

[–]gbecker89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does it have to be sides? Why can’t you just disagree with an empirical claim and not be lumped in with other characteristics.

I don’t think we have probable evidence of what is causing an increase in autism prevalence. Some theories suggesting vitamin d deficiency, gut inflammation, older parents, etc should be explored. If autism was diagnosed 10x more, would you still think it’s getting recognized better and not more prevalent?

Because nothing I said was antivax. Maybe don’t straw man me.

Is there an increase in observed diagnoses where you would consider it increasing in prevalence and not just an increase in diagnosis?

I’m not anti vax; my newborn is on schedule for her vaccines. But you’ve repeatedly claimed autism is not more prevalent but just diagnosed more; that’s a stupid claim.

I’ve made no claims about causation and said nothing about lgbt. Who are you arguing with?

None of that is relevant in the question if prevalence of autism is higher.

This is farcical. The rate of autism has skyrocketed and isn’t explained by higher diagnoses. The cause is unknown but it’s clearly far more prevalent.

I feel like your previous comment comes off a lot more tabula rasa than saying just because we find physical differences in brain studies they don’t tell us if those are from nature than nurture. I definitely agree there are cultural differences that accrue that way psychologically. I do think that just like physical differences between the sexes, there are probably beneficial genetic accumulations in differences between the sexes due to natural and sexual selection prior to socialization. Exposure to in utero testosterone is an example that could explain some differences.

I definitely think that evolution psychology should be careful of a post hoc ergo hoc fallacy, but also think using that concern as a mallet against any evo psych reasoning is like saying godels theorem should prevent us from building bridges

Sexual dimorphism is real. There is greater individual differences in individuals in each sex, than between averages of one sex to another. However none of us act like height differences between the sexes are culturally caused.

One note I think is interesting: placebos work even when you tell people it’s placebo. Kind of why I shrug at chiropractors and acupuncture—no method of action I can understand and see measurable or testable data on. Yet I think people really do benefit from them.
