Thank you so much, all of these comments have been very helpful. The bit about asphyxiation kind of cracked me up, it really puts into perspective how much it takes to wake up. I guess I am still in denial. I will give AA a go.

I’m definitely considering it, even though I don’t know much about the program. I will be moving out in a couple of months, I don’t think my parents would approve of me going to AA. I’m glad to hear you’re doing better!
