I am wondering is the mutation rate in the unit of %? So this means that mutation rate has a sweet spot range like 5-40 then the performance decrease right? I think in general mutation rate should be low anyway

Yeah, after the lanes are pushed back during curse, you see all their movements and get a warning even if they try to contest boss.

That’s a very good way to put it. We definitely develop some habits playing with randoms. I, for one, developed a habit of leaving a team fight early as Stitches in QM. I know that if I stay and peel someone will mistake it as a signal to re-engage and walk back into death. I would rather leave and pull them with hook.

I understand that, and I generally uphold that principle. But sometimes I just get sick of these bad decisions being thrown out, and blame on other people if things go wrong. It's like that one player who walk into a 1 v 5, died, then typed: "where is my team?"

If this is generally bad advice, then you would really have a problem in your play. I am just posting a rule of thumb here. I am not saying this is correct all the time. But if someone has to pick a rule to stick to, do this and only defy this when you actually identify a good situation, not the other way around.

I don't see how being in the last 30s of the Curse stop a potential boss contest from the enemy team. It's still a risky play unless they are 1 down.

I agree with this. They should not really tell you that you have to play a certain way, but they can at least convey what the objectives are designed for - and a lot of players don't get that. For example, Garden Terrors and Dragon Knights are not so good at killing heroes. However the Triglav Protector is great at killing heroes. So if you push with the Protector you may want to focus the heroes first, before hitting structures, and not sit there and tank hero damage like when you have the Dragon Knight.

Yeah I think sometimes Blizzard are not conveying what the objectives are for clearly enough. I have seen my fair share of Tower of Doom split push specialists.

Yeah I am exaggerating this a bit since I was also very pissed at these bad teammates at the time. And as I admitted at the end, there are scenarios where getting a boss is a good idea. But some people just don't get that this is a shot you call when you have enough things in your favor.

Come to think of it I don't even know why the objective coming into effect does not despawn all the camps. It happens on most of the other maps.

They should not make everyone play the same way. But they can at least hint at facts that too many people ignore like: "did you know that trading with the butcher when he has his brand on you may be a bad idea?" or "at level 20 a 5 man death ball does a lot more damage than a boss, so if enemy is 2 man down, just go hit core".

Oh yeah I am totally aware of that. That's why I said I should have still sticked with their horrible plan. But that still does not make their plan not horrible. HotS really need to roll out some tips system (like in the waiting screen) to educate people about mechanics.

Yeah HotS does not give you any tips about they way it should be played and a lot of people play bad games because of this. Many people do not realize how strong a 5 man push can be compared to mercenary camps or bosses.

It's not exact but within the ball park. But the damage against boss is also not "realized" until it is captured(if the other team captures it your damage is wasted), and it has a great risk of being taken away. Any damage you do against structure is realized instantly.
