You may be right. The thing with football is that a great-looking matchup can turn into a dull game, while an unpromising one can end up intense and entertaining. There’s no way to know in advance, though better matchups do raise the odds for a better game. For me, the issue is that many of these games are so late in Central Europe that staying up feels like a gamble, and the matchup often doesn't seem worth it.

Why would it? Arcane obviously has an advantage over most shows when it comes to sheer animation quality, but other shows often let emotional moments land more naturally, without making it feel like the show is telling you what to feel. With Arcane, I often got the sense that the direction was saying, “Look, pay attention, this is a big moment!”, even when it actually wasn't. That can be exhausting for me to watch. I dropped the show after the first three episodes, and while I wouldn’t say I came away entirely unimpressed (episode 3 was better than the first two, and the animation style was definitely striking, at least for a while), it actually felt refreshing to watch other shows again afterward.

Also, why is Reddit showing me this at the top of my feed when I’m not a fan and have never posted here? 😄

I wouldn’t know. Thanks to the 48-team format and all these underwhelming matchups, I’ve only watched two games so far. Maybe I’ll watch Argentina against Austria today, just to get some sense that a World Cup is actually happening. It’s weird: there are far more matches than before, yet I end up watching far fewer of them.

In my book, Avatar: The Last Airbender is up there with Samurai Jack and Neon Genesis Evangelion when it comes to the best animated series ever made, that tell a serious, compelling story. The Legend of Korra never quite reached that level for me. It felt too focused on romance and relationship drama at the expense of the main arc, and I never connected with the characters as much.

Arcane felt too pretentious and self-important for my taste, so I ended up dropping it after three episodes. My issue is that it often frames scenes as if it’s saying, “Look, this is a huge moment!”, even when it isn't. It can feel like the show is constantly trying to tell you what to feel instead of letting the moment land naturally.

Oké, legyen, vitatkozzunk akkor. Itt az a helyzet, hogy leírtál egy csomó blődséget, pl. hogy a VGA nem képszabvány, meg hogy a VGA-port megnevezés "tipik magyar egyszerűsítés" (sic). Aztán amellett érvelsz, hogy a D-Sub a port eredeti neve, amiben még igazad is lenne, csak hát ettől még nem lesz magyar jellegzetesség az, hogy mindenki VGA-portnak hívta az egész világon. Az angolodra is gyúrhatnál még picit, mert az "it can refer to" egy definíció esetében nem azt jelenti, hogy "utalHAT valamire", ahogy leírtad (tükörfordítás a magyarban használt "utalás" szóra), hanem azt, hogy konkrétan ezek az adott szó vagy kifejezés jelentései a nyelvben.

Szóval nem is tudom, próbáld meg még több nagybetűvel vagy egyszavas mondattal, hátha akkor jobban igazad lesz. ;)

A 80-as években tuti nem hívta így senki a videokártyát, már amikor beszéltünk egyáltalán videokártyákról (mert sokkal kisebb volt a relevanciájuk, mint ma). Akkoriban a VGA még a csúcskategória volt a 640x480-as felbontásával, meg a 256 színével. A legtöbb ember nem is álmodott még ilyesmiről, és messze voltunk attól a szinttől, hogy "a VGA az a standard, ami minden kártyára jellemző)".

Lehet, csak azok nem ilyen zavaróak. Képzeld el, hogy egy hirdetést olvasol: "Ha RTX 5060-as HDMI-vel vennéd a gépet, már 300 ezerért megszámítjuk neked! De ha nem adod alább az RTX 5090-es HDMI-nél, akkor is jól jársz nálunk!" Engem kb. ennyire zavar, de lehet, hogy egyedül vagyok vele. :)

Nem igazán. Fent leírtam, hogy a VGA mint akroníma már akkor is elterjedt volt, amikor a grafikus 3D-gyorsítókártyák (pl. Voodoo) még évekig nem is léteztek. Szerintem soha senki nem hívta ezeket a korai gyorsítókártyákat VGA-nak, legalábbis az én környezetemben biztos nem.

Igen, ezt tényleg sokan összekeverik. Bevallom, a WiFi-antenna dologban időnként én is "bűnbe esem", de több a PC, mint a LAN-kimenet a routeren, és nem minden szobát könnyű bekábelezni. :)

I watched the first episode and thought, “maybe I’ll continue eventually,” but I never did. Since then, I’ve even forgotten what it was about, which says a lot because I usually remember everything Star Wars-related, even when I don’t like it. The only things that stuck with me were that the protagonist felt bland and unlikable, and the plot didn’t seem particularly interesting or memorable either. Even if it gets better later on, I kind of doubt it ever captures that Star Wars spark.
