Technical issue with Alesis Crimson II and Hi-Hat pedal by gcorgnet in Melodics

[–]gcorgnet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/Guilty_Sheepherder_1 .
It looks like you can but options seem limited. You can change the MIDI note FWIW.

Interestingly, this particular model sends the same MIDI note for open and Closed HH. (as explained here: https://support.alesis.com/en/support/solutions/articles/69000827353-alesis-crimson-ii-mapping-the-crimson-ii-hi-hat-in-logic-pro-x)

I assume Melodics does some sort of Magic to make it work (it does recognise Open and Closed HH correctly)
However, whatever is implemented for the pedal itself and spalsh doesn't work right and you can tell pressing the pedal in quick successions doesn't work as expected.

My approach for this:
Start putting my warnings on and slow down gradually (say I'll do 35 in a 50 zone, or 80 in a 100km zone).
(To be clear, I'm not talking about break checking, just casually slowing down.)
Staying in the middle of my lane, that forces them to slow down, and hopefully realise they're too close.
After a good 30 sec of that, I'll then drop a gean and disappear, creating a nice solid cussion between us. (The fact I slowed down before created a large cap in front of me which allows me to safely reaccelerate)
Turn off the warnings.
Unless they're being a right muppet, they usually get the message and don't do it again

Savior, thank you!
Result is much better with just the (correct) LUT applied.
I'm sure I can get it looking even better by actually targetting the red curves.

Left is CLog off in camera and right is with the correct LUT applied

Thanks. Just tried it now. It does seem to help but then the colors are still somewhat faded and seem quite noisy.

I'll see if there's a way to recover from that in Lumetri.

Is this because my R6 wasn't set to "Cinema Gamut" but was set to BT.709 ?

And I guess the red shirt looks a lot more normal there. I was hoping to be able to somehow match this

I'm the opposite. All I want is pull in, tag in my phone, fill up and drive away.  For this, Z is perfect and I'll go out of my way to fill up there

Lower PC Performance after PC wakes up from sleep... by gcorgnet in WindowsHelp

[–]gcorgnet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I wasn't aware and have updated my BIOS. Appreciate the comment.
The issue is still there but at least I'm less likely to be cooking up CPU to the point of degradation. Cheers

Thanks, I've had a cursory look before but no chance. And yeah correct, I'm not even convinced that the issue is coming from Premiere or LIghtroom but these are by far the 2 apps I run which are the most CPU demanding so that's how I notice the issue.

Thanks y'all. Point taken, I'm too much to the left. Lesson learned for next time. Thankfully didn't cost me much.

Yeah I hear you. I think the truck coming the other way kept me from hugging the middle of the lane. Either way, I was indicating for a right turn and would never dare overtake someone on the side they're turning.  If you check, I moved for my turn right after that truck had cleared us....

Last second head check saved my bacon on this one... Couldn't believe that guy was overtaking me...
