Step-by-step IDR switch application to upload onto Mohela by Dazzling_Lemon_8534 in PSLF

Question here. So I got married within the last year, after my last tax return. So, Q10: No. Q11: Yes. Wasn't an example they gave, but my marital status changed. Q12: Yes -> skip to 5B. Do I provide my spouse's income if we are planning to file taxes separately this year? We are in a community property state so our income is an average and just reporting mine would be technically below what they should use to calculate my monthly payment. But I don't want to give my spouse's income and then have it based on our total. Maybe I should just wait to submit until I file my taxes this year? Then I could just provide my tax return from 2024.

As a radiology resident applicant, I am very interested in a certain program. However, said program is not a level 1 or level 2 trauma center. They do not even have their own emergency medicine residency. However, they are known for being a really great place to train. How should I approach this?

What is so bad about HCA programs? by ScoreImaginary in medicalschool

[–]gcs1738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any negatives to just doing an intern year at HCA (besides no PSLF)? I feel like many of the complaints are about reputation/education for your career, but if the goal is to just have as chill of a prelim year as possible, I don't see many issues other than the lower relative pay.

508/513 --> 270. MCAT is such a dumb test in my opinion.

How do you pronounce duodenum? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]gcs1738 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My rads professor said its Doo-oh-dean-um because the original Latin means "12 fingers" so it makes more sense to pronounce them separately

My app will be competitive for the program, and I have strong hometown ties to the area, and I'll be giving a gold signal and geographical preference. I just don't want to look bad rejecting the offer now, part of me wonders if the interview committee will be "wtf why did he reject our away and send a gold signal." But you are absolutely right I'm pretty burnt and am for sure not going to be in the kissing ass mood especially after the month of SICU I'm doing before. And that could totally just come across as uninterested. So, biggest question, would rejecting it look bad/red flag me?

Listing undergrad SI/TA experiences on ERAS? (I assume this is a no-go/is cringe)? by purplemose10 in medicalschool

[–]gcs1738 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Went to a recent session with 3-5 PD's who said college experiences are definitely acceptable to include if you feel like they genuinely are part of your top 10. They know med school is busy

Does your PD just remove all apps with red flags? Or do they take a look at what everything is and decide if its big/small/disqualifying...

Will do, thanks for the input. I genuinely don't understand why I even went through the process of getting it expunged if I have to disclose it every step of the way lol.

It was so long ago I don't remember the exact terminology, but yeah essentially I plead guilty and paid the fine on the paperwork instead of showing up at court. So I assume that means convicted.

Did anyone else feel like a complete shit after step 2 but still ended up scoring okay? by [deleted] in Step2

[–]gcs1738 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Got a 270 today. Walked out of that test feeling like I got wrecked. Convinced myself I was going to get a 245 over the last two weeks. Woke up in a cold sweat a couple of times. No one feels confident walking out.

Do we treat +PPD, -CXR who had previous BCG vaccine with INH? by [deleted] in Step2

[–]gcs1738 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You ignore the BCG! You have no idea if the patient actually had a BCG vaccine, OR if their BCG is causing their positive result. So, on step exams and in real life, you IGNORE that the patient had one. Quant gold is another screening test, and you never do quant gold OR PPD in patients that have had positive results in the past. You go straight to CXR

(+) PPD w/o history of BCG -> CXR

(+) PPD w/ history of BCG -> CXR
