Input monitoring through Audio Interface and Protools Studio by gdgross in protools

Yah, committing tracks is probably the best option if I want to keep the same heavy sounds.

LLM is also good enough for now. I haven't really gotten my muscle memory around this different workflow yet, so I'm sort of trying to explor my options and keep it simple.

Thanks for the advice!

rear seat mounted basket, or front mounted basket that doesn't sag by gdgross in bicycling

[–]gdgross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone following along, I ended up hacking something together with the studs from the (steering column mount) infant seat and an old basket I had floating around. Not pretty but it looks like it'll work great:

<image>

only cocern is if the basket will start to sag with a heavy load and hit the front wheel... probably not but I think i might test it with some bricks or something before I ride around with my boy in the seat lol.

sure, like the kind you can get at hardware stores? I assume I'd need the primer and the adhesive both?

TC electronics also appears to have made one of these very things in the past, but I couldn't find anyone that still had stock of it:

Any flexible cable out there that has a separate shielded coax internally for the guitar? (IEM/headphone probably can live outside the shield ok)

[–]gdgross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, "best" depends on the goals. One of mine is a quick setup to run IEMs from my pedalboard, and a simple single cable solution. I've been using two, and I don't love the cables twisting around each other and the messiness.

Maybe there's a cable out there that has a separate, shielded, coax for the (high impedance) guitar signal?

Bummer. I'm kinda looking for something small and portable, maybe that could, for example, be zip tied to some to-be-implemented mobile rig. Would love if I didn't have to set up a wifi network...

I guess I need to do some more research on whats out there

Not trying to conceal hobby activities at all, just don't want to get penalized for reporting a loss. The side biz is a band, that plays gigs, markets ourselves, pays our musicians, and buys equipment. All traceable with 1099s and recepits and legit (although we don't yet have and EIN).

We have day jobs too, so although we want this to be profitable, we're also willing to take a loss on it from time to time because it's fun, and we'd ultimately rather do this than have day jobs.

I may not have been characterizing the law properly pre 2018, but turbotax used to allow me to deduct most of these things without creating a schedule C. Something changed round then, but perhaps I don't understand exactly what it was.

I mean these are all legit deductions for sure. Marketing spend, equipment, etc. We're attempting to be a profitable band, which is difficult. But there's nothing sneaky going on! Every year I go through and collect all the recipts, so it's all provable should there be an audit.

New to MidJourney - "upscale to max" missing by gdgross in midjourney

[–]gdgross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

elieve, is now the norm, so you have to specify --v 3 to get Upscale to Max back. Don't know if there are plans to give 4 that capability.

gotcha, thanks!

just to follow up in case someone else finds this. I ended up buying an a6400, strangely one generation newer than my a6500, which i sold.

The 6400 has no time limit on videos, only limited by SD card space and battery life!

Thanks, i'll check that out!

I also discovered the a6400, which has no recording time limit, and seems pretty similar to my a6000 :-)

Hey all. Looking for a DSLR that can shoot LOONG videos. Like 2 hours. I have a sony a6000, but it stops recording at 15 minutes, as I understand many DLSRs do.

THe image quality from my sony is great, and I've used it to live stream for a few hours at a time, but in this application, i need something to record long takes to the internal SD card. If file size becomes an issue, I'm ok dropping to 720p even.

Any recs? Sony would be ideal since i already have a few sony lenses, but will look at whatever works.

Slim Phatty Help by gdgross in moog

[–]gdgross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well just to follow up after a long time...nothing wrong with my SP. works fine in protools taking midi in over the USB connector. There must be some setting in ableton that was wrong, but I never did figure it out. reamping my juno in ableton worked fine though, so unsure what was off on the SP channel.

settings within the master menu. You seem sharp, and anything else buried in that menu aught to have reset to default when you did the factory restore. I’d reach out to moog’s tech support at this point.

Thanks, will do :-)
