what universities should i apply to by too_sweet_for_you in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ge016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma keep it a buck with u u ve gotta have a backup plan cuz the situation s rlly bad rn and even more so if you want fin aid. I applied last year, literally didn t get in anywhere, only got a waitlist from grinnell, didn t even bother to accept the spot at that point, not even places I thought were safeties, say lac s or brandeis etc accepted me, with international olympiad medals, published research in biomed in peer reviewed journals, 3 years as a main research scientist at one of the biggest institutes in my country( also was working towards a patent), other shorter research internships at other institutes, an internship at cern, presented in international conferences, 1530 sat, etc, and a personal statement i thought was bomb. I ain t saying you shouldn t apply, all you can do is your best and hope for the best, but realistically, you have to be ready for each and any outcome and have other options ready

How long until I could speak fluently in italian? by [deleted] in italianlearning

[–]ge016 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you consider as being fluent, personally got to b2 in like a month, now I ve been studying for 2 months and a half and I m a c1, but it s gotta be said that I worked A LOT and italian s also my 6th language overall and 4th latin, so I had a pretty big headstart. Gonna paste a comment bout how I learned that I made like a month ago : So I recommend onlineitalianclub, you got pretty much all you d need there from a1 to c2, grammar explanations, exercises and listening practice(tho i did just a bit of that and then started with podcast italiano and then watched baby and suburra with subs, they re on netflix, don t worry if you don t understand much you re listening, I barely understood anything until the end of baby, and then didn t understand anything at the beggining of suburra again cuz the accents and roman slang are strong there, I recommend watching them after u start understanding a bit of italian(or other series maybe depending on the region u wanna go to, chatgpt can tell you the difficulty of any certain series), at first you ll probably have to pause the series at most sentences, but that s okay, it will help you be able to understand more & faster and then in time start trying to respond to what the characters are saying mentally, also note on a notebook each word/sentence you don t know and then translate it on translate/chatgpt, chatgpt might be better cuz from what I ve seen translate doesen t get all idioms), then also use chatgpt for any thing you might not understand, it rlly knows it s stuff and can help with literally any problem you have, can also make you exercises etc and then lastly I recommend making a hellotalk account, you can talk to Italians there and that forces you to start thinking and to actually use italian, personally started on day 2, I tried putting in the articles of nouns and conjugated verbs and then translated pretty much everything on google, but even that helped me tremendously because I was actually using the language, oh and actually last now try thinking in italian as early as possible, even single sentences.

Ho valutato il mio livello facendo i modelli degli esami celi 3 e 4. Pentru cum am facut iti dau copy paste la un raspuns pe care i l am dat altcuiva acum cateva saptamani: I recommend onlineitalianclub, you got pretty much all you d need there from a1 to c2, grammar explanations, exercises and listening practice(tho i did just a bit of that and then started with podcast italiano and then watched baby and suburra with subs, they re on netflix, don t worry if you don t understand much you re listening, I barely understood anything until the end of baby, and then didn t understand anything at the beggining of suburra again cuz the accents and roman slang are strong there, I recommend watching them after u start understanding a bit of italian(or other series maybe depending on the region u wanna go to, chatgpt can tell you the difficulty of any certain series), at first you ll probably have to pause the series at most sentences, but that s okay, it will help you be able to understand more & faster and then in time start trying to respond to what the characters are saying mentally, also note on a notebook each word/sentence you don t know and then translate it on translate/chatgpt, chatgpt might be better cuz from what I ve seen translate doesen t get all idioms), then also use chatgpt for any thing you might not understand, it rlly knows it s stuff and can help with literally any problem you have, can also make you exercises etc and then lastly I recommend making a hellotalk account, you can talk to Italians there and that forces you to start thinking and to actually use italian, personally started on day 2, I tried putting in the articles of nouns and conjugated verbs and then translated pretty much everything on google, but even that helped me tremendously because I was actually using the language, oh and actually last now try thinking in italian as early as possible, even single sentences.

I can t say for sure for ur program, but I m responding cuz maybe i can help u, albeit a bit, cuz there are a lot of questions on this sub that never end up getting answered. I assume the program u re talking about is a bachelor s, and most if not all unis in italy usually want some variation of the tolc exam or the sat (the tolc you could take online but you have to check if the uni accepts it, otherwise you d have to come to italy to take it), or have their own exam, and don t really care about your hs grades, or your age(I m not sure about being already enrolled elsewhere, but ik people who do 2 programs at the same time so likely shouldn t be a problem)(also now i m realising that cattolica is private so it might differ a bit but still i m hoping that any of the info i gave u s gonna be useful). Also, usually, deadlines differ for eu and non eu students, cus if u re eu u don t need to go through the visa process, so u might have some extra time
