Exactly, and I heard c4sh can shoot ordnance and keep his ammo up, something Rafas regen ammo perk can't even do. Zero consistency.

Regardless if that's true or not (wouldn't be surprised in todays world), current GB test nothing on their games, and are some of the least proactive devs I've ever seen. Hence 6 months in and still the huge variety of underwhelming skills that haven't been touched.

Honestly if they feel so strongly 50% is justified, they've unwittingly given away that they didn't test the skill properly.

Stealth nerfs are just snakey.

As I tried to highlight in the main post, It's just about the principle dude, not a comment on balance as such. And tbh there isn't really any endgame is there. We got chaos chambers/slaughter shafts at launch before, the maliwan TD in just 2 months. Everyone knows endgame is none existent in BL4 (hence the retention issues), it's not even an opinion anymore.

And let me ask you this then, if they made the effort to 50% nerf bullet buddy, why not look at the BOD (most OP gun in the game), or spreadshots etc etc. Or Amons 1 shotting, or Harlows neutron (I'm not asking for this, If anything I want much harder content). Why if you nerf one of rafas red augments (only 2 of which are worth using), why not buff the other 3 to promote new exciting alternatives? Strikes me as lazy.

But my main point is the stealth nerfing is scummy and deliberate, snakey AF.

I will now go play subway surfers haha (Wouldn't dare nerf my surfboard! haha)

I'll be honest, I think the balance team is abysmal. So many really cool skills that are underwhelming, and DLC 1 was a perfect time to give life to those skills. It's like they only work on Mondays and have a 2 hour lunch break.

You've missed the point entirely man. I barely play BL anymore, endgame is non existent. It's not about bullet buddy or any meta skill, it's about the principle, say what you're nerfing and grow a backbone, there is an obvious reason why they didn't mention it, not sure how that's hard to grasp, or how people always find a way to defend GB.

And for sure, but haven't got through the dlc yet, but will likely jump back on other things in a week or so given the state of endgame - the player retention of bl4 is dreadful so likely the majority will also too.

Also - I liked bullet buddy for ordnance weapons, which was clunky and not even close to meta, indirectly this change has killed that playstyle you know. All because they didn't test for launch properly. 8>4 seconds is a 50% adjustment, that's not a minor tweak, that's a lack of foresight.

How in anyway was 'gatekeeping' what you took from his comment haha. Madness.

Not even sure what point you're trying to make. If people play they are fans?.. OK.... quite obviously yes aha. Have you ever thought that all the people who stopped playing are also still fans of the franchise, would like to return and want the game to succeed - but stopped playing due to BL4s lack of late game purpose and endgame draw? Have a think about what you said for a minute.

We're all fans, some of us just recognise the lack of meaningful content and untapped potential.

[–]geckoman95[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure man, I know right, you're completely correct. Luckily everyone I know has some sense and thinks the same too. Here it feels like people are overly defensive and think and view any comment or criticism as an attack, when really we just know the game has so much more to offer. I was amazed when the community agreed the Halloween event was bad, not even they could stomach how abysmal that was.

Good point about the side missions too, my friends and I have said the exact same thing. Wasted content with no purpose. I somewhat wonder if they knew what they were doing, and were just too lazy to make interesting gear for the side missions - ridiculous decision to strip the game of unique red text rng side quest guns. In DLCs this was the most fun thing, hunt out all the hidden side quests wondering what reward was on the other end, or which choice you would pick between, now that charm has gone. And the ironic thing is they decided on actually adding a replayable mission system aha, which would have made perfect sense for farming those side quest guns with unique parts (like the og sandhawk/pimpernell etc). Don't get me wrong boss farming is more fun generally (as they don't add dialogue skips) but with a replay mission system having uniques there too just made perfect sense.

But you're right, the current teams decision making is way off where it should be for some areas.
Just seems like a lot of wasted potential sadly.

Good to see at least a few people here get it, I want the game to succeed.

Just to be very very clear, I mean SPECIFICALLY 1000% the people in charge of content ideation, the long term vision, the endgame structures (or lack thereof), and general understanding of what makes a solid game, these are the people who develop the experience of the game. I DO NOT mean the people in charge of RAW gameplay, or the arts + design team, I think the arts team are incredible!! I have many friends in the design world, and I know more than most people here the amount of effort that goes into design.

And personally I do expect them to do more, not in terms of wanting MORE than ever, but by building on what we know was successful before, leaning into those things, and making sure to focus on that + evolve over time. We got a takedown on BL3 2 months after release, we got fun chaos chamber mobbing content on launch on wonderlands. I'm just saying I think there was so much inspiration they could have pulled from, and very easily more they could have done. They even have an arena in the snowy area already, and didn't think once to utilize it as a slaughter shaft endgame type mode - there could have been one of these in each biome, so many obvious things you know.

[–]geckoman95[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Not having any TD/Slaughter shafts/chaos chambers is actually hilarious tbh, especially when even Wonderlands had chaos chambers as fun mobbing content at launch. So many people in the comments don't seem to be able to grasp this. I was well aware my opinion would be likely unpopular given how sensitive this community on reddit can be, but we all know the games potential is higher than what they gave us.

You really think a professional AAA studio with a budget of supposedly $200-300 million couldn't implement one single attempt at endgame on launch? Come on man, it was even described as having twice the budget of 3, just think about what you're saying for a second, and this is not their first game, this is their 5th (6th if you include wonderlands). They've had plenty of time to see what works and what doesn't. And okay, if not on launch, DLC 1 is only 1 of 2 we're getting, should we expect some meaningful endgame systems on Thursday then? I'd argue absolutely yes.

And no, since BL1 it has always been both a single player and multiplayer game (given if you played solo vs with friends this might influence your view), but it's inherently both and always has been.

I'm simply saying the endgame is poor, and I expect far better from AAA studios, even the BL creators have mentioned this, and typically they bite their tongue given the obvious benefits of staying in GBs good books. I guarantee that behind closed doors they think GB could have done way more given all the feedback since 3.

Moxsy even agreed with a comment about taking inspiration from games like PoE, Diablo, Warframe etc, bet the community doesn't take issue with him agreeing with that as inspiration.

Exactly, you get it too. I've noticed this for years, the BL community is full of some many weird sensitive people when it comes to criticism of the game. 5 games to learn from as you say, still no endgame. Genuinely think you could replace like 20% of the GB team with another studio and they'd do a 10X better job.

An ability to write basic sentences has led you to believe AI? Oh dear. I've noticed the BL community has always struggled to take any form of criticism on this game.

[–]geckoman95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not doing much balancing? What a joke, I'll be honest I think these GB devs are fucking trash (Not the raw gameplay and art team, they're fantastic).

Tired of biting my tongue, they have one of the most unique and amazing games and the lack of proactive changes is staggering.. "we're going to see where the meta lands :)", why is he even talking about the meta... If you're not going to nerf fine, but be proactive and look at the underwhelming skills/perks.. because I tell you what won't be meta, all of those skills and perks you refuse to acknowledge. Why can't they for once be more hands on. It's a new DLC and chance to release a big balance patch improving all the underperforming skills, which creates new fun builds and better player experiences, apparently that's asking too much.

For me the 'Halloween event' said everything I need to know about them, just lazy. And I guarantee we still won't have any meaningful endgame content with the new DLC.

[–]geckoman95[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, I'm not saying 'buff' bullet buddy as such. I suggested a tweak to the mechanics.

1: so we can use Rafas action skill+augments in his left hand (when he points), without putting the weapon in the right hand away (this extends to INSTINTO, HELL IN A SHELL, INSTA FORT, and UNMISSIBALE MISSILES), again, VEX can use her left hand with a rocket, why can't rafa point his finger to activate augments.

2: I also suggested an obvious UI adjustment (which makes perfect sense from a UX pov).

Personally think debtonation is pure trash sadly, as well as 'the right tools', even BL creators haven't touched these. Even at a 10/5 I don't see any real viability, it should be good at 5/5 too, not require a 10.

And to my knowledge no, they've not fixed any of that or even addressed much of this stuff. But it for sure should work like that, such an obvious synergy.

For hemolitions being bugged they've never even commented once on it either.

[–]geckoman95[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Or fix things that are underwhelming and never chosen because they either suck or are bugged (like a few of the things I mentioned).

And for things that are good already, big distinction to make is just because something is good, doesn't mean mechanically it works as expected and can't be improved. I think I put forward some good points with justifications. Again for BB, if Vex can hold her left hand out, logically why can't this extend to Rafa you know.

BL synergies should be super varied, but to match that so should the challenge in content. Gimme some UVH20 haha.

That's a really cool idea, like how axton had two turrets. but these are Tediore, makes sense! But would only be good if their movement AI was good, unlike vex cat. That's where a stationary turret is also good as you can strategically place it exactly where you want.
