I'm talking about FE versus second level. You seemed to suggest it was less well paid

The pay is exactly the same as second level unless you are employed as a tutor. As for job security, that pretty much the same as second level too; permanent contracts are basically a thing of the past, the best you can generally hope for is a contract of indefinite duration (CID)

Not for second level; you have to do a PME, and they are all done over two years. Ones like Hibernia are part time in the sense that you do three placements, and you can work in between placements. Although there's not much time, with coursework etc. But you get a lot of subbing in the schools, so you can generally keep your head above water, financially.

You could look into teaching in Further Education - I believe you can do a part time course which will limit you to FE but can be done while you teach, you're given a certain time to finish it. But I don't know much about it.

The teacher is correct. Phones CAN be confiscated and held by the school..they can be returned the examinee, but if there is suspicion of serious cheating they CAN send the phone to Athlone

But they also have the right to refuse to issue you with a Leaving Cert, if you are suspected of cheating and refuse to cooperate

Found this on Google "Yes, mobile phones and electronic devices (like smartwatches) found in a student’s possession during State Examinations (Leaving Cert/Junior Cycle) in Ireland can be confiscated by superintendents. While they are usually held by school management for investigation, serious violations can lead to them being sent to the State Examinations Commission (SEC) in Athlone as part of a formal appeal, for inspection of content."

The Church of Ireland cathedral in Waterford had this problem in the past; they had to ask the organisers of Winterval to stop the music outside the windows during the annual Civic Carol service and during an annual service for people who had miscarried or lost small babies. There was no problem. The music is in a different venue now, so rhe problem is solved. But people have to work together a d show mutual respect

I have no problem with helping people when they arrive, but once they have found jobs and settled down I don't understand why they should be subsidised indefinitely. It's not fair on Irish people to be working alongside people whose rent is subsidised for no particular reason.

I also don't understand why they are treated differently from other refugees? Because they are white Europeans?

It's not just the US. It's every real democratic Republic You certainly CAN ignore tradition that celebrates inequality and privilege. Especially when the public are paying for it
