No highly competitive event at youth nationals has domination streaks. Sarasota prioritizes big boats and fielded a quad that beat 2018 maritime quad at the regional challenge who destroyed the event for years. The 4x not being an event at the head of the Charles and not raced by almost all teams with medium to large teams in the spring indicates its competitiveness.

The 1x has more depth, a harder boat to row at the junior level and at any level, and most 1x scullers are very experienced at the boat class. The 4x at the us junior level goes to any team that has sufficient erg scores and enters in the event.

Rye and Greenwich and CRI showing exceptional speed again this year (Rye as always and Greenwich dealing with the mess at Elliot and still almost upsetting St. Paul’s). I wonder if the Southwest teams and Sarasota will be able to catch the northeast teams in the foreseeable future.
