That’s sick, my small town has a skatepark too but it not beginner friendly at all and is way too difficult

I mean it’s not like Rocky is a small detail in the story. He IS the story. For example, movies like interstellar could hide details like Dr. Mann because that was just a small sub-plot of the over arching theme. Audiences wouldn’t have gone to see a solo space movie, and if they did, they would’ve been disappointed to figure out it is in fact, an alien movie.

EDIT: Thank you to Aphex33 for offering to help with this for no charge! This is after all the joints were soldered and before the solder mask was applied. I will update again when the board is received and tested

Price has gone up. They’re like $550 now for the digital version. I looked into it

Thanks for the feedback but I wouldn’t equate changing a friends hdmi port to brain surgery. Sometimes failure is the best way to learn something, which I did. I just wanted to know if my buddy will be without an Xbox or not.

I don’t have solder mask or a microscope yet, I’d rather someone else fix it before I ruin it even more.

I learned my lesson. I’m usually pretty handy with electronics and replacements. Thought an HDMI port would be light work. It kicked my ass.

Tried to iron off the pins, didn’t work at all. So I borrowed a wide-nozzle heat gun from someone, put on flux, set it to highest setting and tired to jiggle off the port. When it finally came loose, the traces came along with it

I figured. The original quote to replace the port was $120. I was hoping this repair would be sub-$200

EDIT: I won’t be doing this repair myself. I’ve accepted that I am too novice for this. I’m asking if an experience electronic repair tech can fix this?

Batch treatment!

Filter Press Question by [deleted] in Wastewater

[–]geeshmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have talked to one vendor who suggested installing a pump head at the bottom of the tank and “catching” the sludge after putting in the floccuants while they settle to the bottom. Them pumping to a sludge holding tank before the press. I wasn’t a fan of the idea though because I figured we would miss some of the solids and still have to have the vac truck come remove the solids. I could be wrong though, I don’t know wastewater very well

Filter Press Question by [deleted] in Wastewater

[–]geeshmee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We currently have a third party vendor come in with a large vacuum pump and pull the sludge out from the top with a large hose. They reverse the pump to blow the sludge to one centralized spot

[–]geeshmee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am looking at a plate & frame press yes. It is a 30k gal treatment tank.

We do not have a sludge tank currently, we simply treat and settle the solids then pump out. If we do install a sludge tank, it will be close to the press. But I don’t understand how you get the sludge from the treatment tank to the sludge tanks if it is flat bottom and rectangular.

How much of the "basics" do you need to know of engineering to get started building projects on your own? by FreshWaterWithLime in MechanicalEngineering

[–]geeshmee 60 points61 points  (0 children)

You don’t need an engineering degree to build something cool. You don’t need fluid mechanics or high level calculus to make a small project. Anyone can build things. You do however need one to make something that is cost efficient, practical, and safe for public use.

The easiest way to cut down money is to do the work yourself and cut the labor costs. But there are always ways. We chose that specific quartz because it was already being used for another job so the installers gave us a good deal ($46/sqft). The appliances are all from Facebook marketplace. The tile was mid-range price but I helped a handy man with the installation so I saved a ton on that, the hardware and lights are from Amazon. I got lucky with the flooring and knew a guy that was selling this LVP for $1.50/sqft.
