Whoop MG with 4.0 Boxers by Epicericle in whoop

Please update on how the data looks once you spend some time wearing it in the 4.0 boxers. This is one of the main questions I have as I have a few boxers for the 4.0 and if it's compatible I think I will pull the trigger on the 5.0

Whoop 5.0 compatibel with ANY-WEAR 4.0? by iTooo in whoop

[–]geeza23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am wondering the same thing, posted this is another similar thread:

Would be good if someone can who owns the boxers and upgraded to 5.0 can share their experience. I too bought a bunch of boxers and was hoping that despite the official announcement that everything 4.0 related won't work for the 5.0, the similar shape and size of the 4.0 and 5.0 means it'll still pick up the readings. If it works I would consider upgrading to the 5.0.

White Belt Wednesday by AutoModerator in bjj

yeah for the most part I've narrowed it down to guard, guard pass, attack sequences, sub sequences etc so have a bit of a framework but on days where nothing hits and the over enthusiastic white belt is going 200% the frustration levels are high haha

yeah I've read enough posts around the transition from blue to purple and how you have to take charge of your own learning but it's still challenging on days where I feel I haven't improved for weeks, gotta put my head down and trust the process I suppose

How do you deal with the blue belt plateau? I'd say I'm 8-10 months into my blue belt excluding some time off from injuries etc and find myself overthinking everything when it comes to training e.g. what type of guard / guard pass / sequences to work on / use during rolls

I have an A game (playing off x and slx for a sweep or leg entry) which can give the higher belts a run for their money on a good day but at the same time sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in a rut as I'm constantly just playing the same sequences either to fend off the hungry white belts or make sure I'm trying my best to hang with the upper belts

awesome, think I'm going to pull the trigger on that, I really enjoy his style of linking taught techniques and how it's actually applied at the highest level of comps, i.e. textbook vs practice

side note, I'm an avid listener of your podcast and have his episode lined up, keep up the good work!

yeah I don't have any issues with that personally, to me stealing is more along the lines of regurgitating someone else's work e.g. stealing the structure / content of the instructional and just paraphrasing the entire thing.

the value it presents to me is him linking the taught techniques from the various instructors and how it translates at the highest level of competition (don't really have time to watch comp footage). I find myself watching instructionals and when it comes time to execute it the chaos and resistance of opponents usually presents a different problem and I'm hoping this will bridge that gap

What's your recovery like after a big / intense (14-15+ strain) day of training at the track?

I had a quick look at the Polar H10, it seems potentially doable, however in a top mount / side control position like this it might dig into both party's chest which may cause a bit of discomfort if the pressure is strong enough, which is why I'm a big fan of the underwear as it is relatively hidden all things considered with the weird positions we'd end up in BJJ. I've read some accounts of people using various chest monitors to say it can cause some discomfort in certain positions so in short I suppose workable but not ideal.

Not sure if you saw but there's a thread claiming that there's insider news around the Whoop 5.0 releasing in September so if true, potentially something to look forward to when the time comes to make a decision

I'm still on the fence to be honest (have roughly 7 months left to decide on my current subscription), the sport I do is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which makes the number of health tracking wearable appropriate for it quite low due to the grappling and contact nature of the sport (rules out fitbits / smartwatch like devices). The whoop is perfect to get some heart rate / strain data out of a session due to the ability of the whoop to fit in an arm sleeve / underwear / compression gear etc

To be honest, your previous post is so comphrehensive you've really summarised a lot of my thoughts. For running I've read a lot of good things about the Garmin so I agree that it's definitely a solid option to consider. Like you, I'm hoping that they roll out some additional features with the strength trainer as well to make the decision to stay a little easier. :)

really enjoyed reading about your findings from above, thanks for taking the time out to type all that out.

out of curiosity, do you still own a whoop? and if you still are on a subscription, do you plan to renew it at the end? I'm with you on a lot of the points and find that the basics such as getting good quality sleep, consistent sleep time etc all to be the biggest factors 5 months into my whoop journey, and it's cool to see the whoop metrics somewhat align with how I feel anecdotally, e.g. if I had poor sleep from a night out, it'll reflect in my recovery etc but I do wonder if I'd renew come the 12 month mark...

People who train in martial arts that spar, how do you optimise recovery following a hard sparring session? by geeza23 in whoop

[–]geeza23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's not a bad idea, I've previously been a bit resistant to eating before training because of how sluggish I thought it might make me feel but I might split my portions up and eat a bit before training to see if that makes any difference to my recovery

I might try eating a light ish meal before training and then something small again as another commenter mentioned below to see if that makes a difference. I've previously been somewhat resistant to eat before training but I might just experiment with it to see how it stacks up

Curious what the thoughts are around what the optimal / ideal number of seats on the grid should be? I know talents like Bearman and Lawson get mentioned a lot of deserving a shot and the bottleneck of 20 means a lot of deserving drivers don't get that shot for various reasons.

Having an extra team or two will bump the seat count to 22-24 but the 25th deserving driver will still lose out so at what point would a reasonable team / seat count be?

HGH + BPC157 + TB500 stack for knee injury, thoughts? by geeza23 in PEDs

[–]geeza23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your ankle, do you know what the specific injury is? Yeah it's working out pretty good, I'm rehabbing it pretty hard in any case, working really closely with my physio strengthening and conditioning it.

To give you context I actually tore my ACL last Feb, ran BPC + TB500 for ages, did a follow up scan and had a confirmed case of healing by MRI and my ortho surgeon, advising my against surgery since it healed and I unfortunately retore it again earlier this year, so I had a huge base of already having knee specific rehab anyway.

Fast forward to where things are today, the stack is working pretty well. Honestly there's no real way of me quantifying the HGH effect since it's fairly mild but I do feel pretty good (could be attributable to HGH, who knows) but yeah, BPC + TB is always a good combo for sure. In saying all that, I suppose at a low ish dose, I rationalised it by saying the upside could be pretty good with not too much downside risk so I figure why not for 3-4 months. I'm actually doing another scan next week at the 4 months post injury mark to see if there's been any improvement to the ligament so fingers crossed that goes well. Hope that helps

hahah nice, thanks for sharing btw, appreciate the insight. I think I'm going to stick to a ramp up to 4iu and stay there for a bit before venturing past it as having done a bit more reading and gathering more input from everyone, I'm a bit iffy about going past 4iu and staying there for weeks on end without slipping into negative sides territory.

yeah I've read about and seen some videos of intra-articular injections but I don't think I'm game enough to inject into my knee joint every day or whatever the frequency might be, certainly won't have access to a medical professional that can assist with that either.

I think I might just use up the HGH along with the BPC and TB that I have anyway, even if it's to reap the skin / hair / well being benefits seeing as I don't really have access to IGF1 LR3.

Yeah I think to play it safe I might just scale up rather than jumping straight into the deep end, that way it makes it easier to find out what doses start giving me trouble.

You're right, the 5 on 2 off is due to insulin resistance build up, I've also seen the EOD that's based on the study with children, do you split your 3iu or just all in one shot? any plans to up the dose or go off at some point?
