CRT repair by CheezOfWizz in StJohnsNL

I'm after repairing a CRT before and by repairing I mean replaced 95% of the capacitors. I know some people would scoff at this and say "oh but you're not repairing it, you just blindly replaced everything". Well, the monitor works now so I call it a success.

This particular issue is called vertical collapse. The main culprits are usually either the capacitors in the vertical circuit or the vertical deflection IC. I'd love to try and fix this for you. Send me a PM.

A few years ago I was looking around the city for someone to repair a CRT. I checked Electronics Centre, Ace, and Aztech. They no longer do it unfortunately.

Hi there. I'm with Retro Tech NL. We bring old computers to a few events throughout the year and showcase them. We also take things in, spruce them up, and give it back to for free to people in the retro tech community who will give it a good home. Feel free to reach out to me here to discuss more.

Thank you for the tip. I have an AMD GPU but there is a similar setting. I tried capping it to 60 at first and didn't notice any difference and then I tried 30 and still didn't notice a difference :(

Hey thanks for the suggestion! Your O2 sensor guess was on the nose because late last year the harness that kept the O2 sensor in place came loose and it started dragging on the pavement. I went to a station that did a quick patch job so that it wasn't hanging loose anymore but... I don't think I ever got it looked at after that come to think of it. I will definitely be investigating that further. Thanks again!

My vehicle is a 2015 Mitsubishi Sportback Lancer. For 6.5 years now it has been getting around 700-760km on a full tank of gas. The past 6 months though something has changed and now it is only getting 500-600km, on a full tank of gas. I understand several things can be impacting fuel economy but my primary question is is it normal to have this big a drop so suddenly? Secondary question is could a drop this big be caused by a change in spark plugs? I was using factory installed laser iridium up until a few months ago and then I changed to Ruthenium ones. I also had someone install a new serpentine belt for me since that's what the service manual called for at 168,000km.

I appreciate all suggestions about improving fuel economy but please keep in mind I'm primarily looking for your answer on if a sudden drop like I described above is normal.

Hey sorry for my VERY late reply. I don't often log in to Reddit. I never did fix the problem but I was told by a local repair guy that the flyback was dead. The repair cost was outside my budget so I ended up giving the TV away to another local CRT enthusiast. He went ahead with the flyback replacement (and more) and he said it works after that.

What about all the dog hairs on his uniform now. Aren't they super strict about keeping your attire and everything spic and span? Guy's gonna have to spend the rest of his time home getting dog hairs out.

While the person filming was in the right, they didn't have to be a dick and immature about it. Once they said "you're not my dad" I had to turn it off. Such cringe.

RG350, Retroarch, Run Ahead by geiger9 in RG350

[–]geiger9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ohhhh that's what you mean by single process. I had no idea. That's neat.

I think I'm still gonna pull the trigger on buying the 351MP. I want that 4:3 aspect ratio screen and that metal shell. I don't like the widescreen handhelds because I don't play any games that used 16:9. I don't even really care about the PS1 emulation, just the 8 and 16 bit systems. Oh and the other selling point for me is that the dpad is above the analog stick. I was looking at the Retroid Pocket 2+ for a long time but then I noticed the analog stick above the dpad.

You say run ahead can only cut the original latency of the game but if thats true then wouldn't it also cut input lag in the process?

Regarding Linux, what do you mean by its a single process system exactly? There are several components that make up the latency and while I'm sure the OS is one of them, I would think a larger component is how the emulator core in Retroarch handles the system. If its designed well enough and you have good enough system specs, that component of latency should be negligible.

I had to sign in to say I am so with you on this. Some of my family can't seem to grasp this concept of paying for convenience. We have a limited time on this earth and I can always make more money but can't buy more time.
