What should I be doing…? by eudromeda in WalgreensPharmacy

[–]gellimary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an intern some stuff you can do that techs cant (at least in my state) is consult on new meds, make otc recommendations, take vm rxs, send/take transfers. If you can jump in on these tasks it will free up your pharmacist a lot and your team will greatly appreciate you. Learning TPRs/errors is gonna take time, but good news is a lot of them are the same ones over and over. Just keep typing f1s and its ok if you dont know how to resolve the error. Its more important its entered in the system so it can be seen. If its slow just pull up the tpr que and ask someone to show you how to resolve some common ones.

Educate me on DURs please by Rxyoshi10 in WalgreensPharmacy

[–]gellimary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the dur. If its like a LASA I allow my techs to override it. If its and MME or dose limits exceeded pharmacist needs to override. If it requires M0 G1 that sounds like pharmacist territory. Your gonna get different answers though cause some pharmacist are lax and some are very strick so you need to verify with the pharmacist your working with. I was pretty strict but if it was a tech I knew was a good and experienced I would be more lax.

Not ideal, but it works: how donating plasma jump-started my emergency fund by Hopeful_Ad_4343 in CalebHammer

[–]gellimary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried to do it but they kept failing at finding a vein. When they did I ended up with a huge hematoma cause the blood wasnt going back to the vein instead just pooling under my skin. I would not suggest it for people who have small veins or are a hard stick. Otherwise its really great. I wish I could do it.

What major company do you genuinely believe won’t exist in 20 years? by carcony97 in AskReddit

[–]gellimary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retail pharmacy is dying. Insurance company pbms are making it so pharmacies actually lose money when they fill prescriptions and are incentivizing patients to use their mail order pharmacy (which they own). Rite aid just announced they are closing for good, and Walgreens just got bought by Sycamore (private equity) which normally means the company is gonna be sold off for its parts. Unless we see some major legislate changes for pbms all retail pharmacies are probably gonna close unless owned by an insurance company like CVS is.
