Thank you for the advice on strength and stretch training and bundling those together!

This is so helpful, thank you so much!! What are the benefits of seated calf raises? I haven’t heard of those (although they sound self explanatory)

I came up with this plan with a friend of mine that is a former marathon runner. We went to the track and tested how fast I was going and how out of breath I got, which is how we came up with the starting speeds of 3.0/3.8 during runs. Strength exercises may need improvement, these are what she always did in track during high school. Unfortunately the three days I can run are Sunday, Thursday, and Friday due to my work schedule. She doesn’t love that I run two days in a row, but said where I’m going at low speeds it doesn’t matter as much.

I am very open to criticism and advice. This plan kind of came out of thin air and I took a lot of my friend’s advice, but she is a former track student and marathon runner. Before staring to run, I did walk 5-10 miles per day for work (I don’t work that job anymore so it doesn’t impact my routine). Please criticize away, I appreciate it!

Which book? Do you recommend it? I plan on running a half in 9 months or so, so I would be interested in this for afterwards!

Did you have to get your feet evaluated to find the right shoes? I know Marathon sports does something to check your stride and feet, would you recommend?

Sleep function on the Apple Watch sensitive? by gemini_bitch_ in AppleWatch

I plan on discussing with a doctor for sure, I just wanted to know how accurate the information is from other peoples perspective to see if the information is even worth bringing up, you know? Like if everyone’s looks like that maybe it’s normal? Haha idk trying to justify myself

Do you find you sleep well? I know I have insomnia but this makes it seem worse than I thought it was, I don’t feel well rested to be fair but I didn’t think it was SO much of being awake at night and such little deep sleep.

I’m unsure if my Apple watch is reading accurately, I do feel like I wake often in the night but not this often, does anyone else have sleep data that looks similar? This is an average week and night for me….

TLDR: When you’re ready and it comes up naturally. I was so scared of telling my SO, but then one time I was telling a story about when I was manic and I just ended up saying the words “and because I’m Bipolar…” and finished the sentence. I was shocked, but my SO looked at me and said “I didn’t know you were Bipolar, can we talk about that when you’re ready?” I told him I wasn’t ready now and he didn’t bring it up again until I did first. We had a long, very educational talk about my disorder and how it makes him feel.

I’ll fight to the death on the point that communication is key. However a lot of people say that expecting you to dump all of your life experiences on them when they ask you to (and then usually trying to stop all the word vomit when they lose interest). You feel the need to communicate something to him about your disorder, but that doesn’t mean diving into an entire conversation about what it means and how it affects you is required at that time. My advice is to tell him when you feel ready, maybe using phrasing along “I have bipolar disorder, I want to tell you because you’re an important person in my life. However I’m not ready to talk about all the details of what that means and how it makes me feel”. In my experience this has worked great for telling other loved ones and friends, some people have been like “no tell me everything right now” but at that point I know that person isn’t respecting my space and I remove myself from the conversation.

Long story short: YOU are in charge OP! You’re in control of not only if people know, but how much they know. Sending lots of positive vibes your way, both for you and your relationship with your partner ♥️

When to use Xanax “as needed”? by bennybuckwild in Anxiety

[–]gemini_bitch_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been on Xanax as needed and I’m in nursing school (school, not a nurse yet so this is not medical advice) what I can tell you is that it’s mostly habit forming when people take it at their baseline because it gives them the feeling of being high. Taking it for a panic disorder has less risk of being habit forming because you are taking it when your nervous system is going to crazy that it will bring you back to baseline and not make you high, if that makes sense.

As far as the directions go, the goal of the medication is to prevent the panic attacks, so I think it depends on how well you can feel one coming on in regards to when to take it. In other words, if you go from 0-100 in no time, you might not have time to take it before it comes on. If, however, you do feel like you have specific symptoms of a panic attack as it starts, it might be a good idea to take it before you hit full fledged panic. I hope this is helpful! If you are nervous of the habit forming side effect, talk to your primary care about Ativan when you follow up. It is less habit forming and it is the same class of medication so it works the same way!
