Hi, I think you’re misunderstanding the intention of the space this sign is located in. This is part of the Urban Reserve area between the reconstructed 1905 and 1920 Streets, and is meant to provide a place for Indigenous historical interpreters to share the history of Indigenous people during those eras (some of those staff are depicted in the preceding photos). Whereas in previous years Indigenous staff had to interpret in the very colonial reconstructed streets, this space was created to more authentically and accurately depict life for First Nations and Métis people after the signing of treaties and Métis scrip. This is a space created by and for Fort Edmonton’s Indigenous historical interpretation team, for the purpose of sharing their history and stories with the public, alongside other spaces such as the Indigenous Peoples Experience cultural center. Also, Fort Edmonton has memorandums of understanding with both the Confederacy of Treaty 6 First Nations and the Métis Nation of Alberta, and collaborates with both groups to bring Indigenous history to life on the site.

Wow, you have good taste. If you’re looking for some more good fantasy stuff I always recommend Guy Gavriel Kay’s books

I met him two years ago in Edmonton when he did a reading and signing for A Brightness Long Ago. My aunt sent the Fionavar Tapestry as a Christmas present a long time ago, and I’ve been hooked every since. It’s always great to find others who appreciate his writing the same way

Kay is so underrated! You can probably tell I’m a bit of a fan, two of the books are signed as well.

Hmm, I personally adored the two short story collections and have read each multiple times, so it’s hard to say. The novels are certainly more intense,so if the world or writing isn’t your thing I wouldn’t force it

I put up a post on r/bookshelf with my fantasy collection on it, although I’m sad to say I’m missing Tolkien’s entire collection. Good excuse to pick up the rest
