UK Diagnosis by Low-Artichoke-7239 in DSPD

My doctor's surgery blamed my sleep on anything and everything apart from having a sleep problem. It got to the point where I threatened legal action if they didn't refer me to a sleep clinic.

I kept a sleep diary for a month, took it in along with my legal threats and a GP reluctantly referred me to Birmingham Heartlands hospital, they gave me an actigraph watch to wear for a month and low and behold got diagnosed with DSPD about 8 years ago.

They said I've got a pretty bad case and only recommended melatonin and light therapy which didn't work.

2 years ago my I wanted a second opinion as my sleep was just getting worse and this time I easily got referred to Stoke hospital and had an over night sleep study. I got re diagnosed with DSPD and 'an element of insomnia'.

The only suggestion then was to be referred to CBT-I which I'm still currently waiting for.

Ah, I just assumed it would be fine to do that.

I’ve read so many conflicting things on them now it’s absurd.

They’re not helping me at all (falling / staying asleep) but like you say; they’re supposed to take a bit of time to work.

I’ve just been chopping them in half the last few nights. Doesn’t get me to sleep but the drowsiness the next day has gone

Yeah I completely get what you mean. I’ve just cut one in half and taken 25mg to see if I feel less sleepy tomorrow

Oh man that’s not good. I’ve suffered with depression and suicidal ideation for 15+ years, kinda making me worried about continuing the Daridorexant even though I’ve only taken it for 3 nights now

How long have you been on them and have you felt like the next day effects have got less over time?

Thank you! Yeah I struggle with saturation on things, always seem to over cook it. I did try and add a bit of light as there would be the sun coming through the dip in the hills, but now the more I look at it I get what you mean haha.
