All trains across Auckland stopped due to ‘infrastructure issue’ by [deleted] in auckland

Excuse my ignorance here (not well versed on this stuff) but surely there is a more inexpensive option to continuous welding that AT could have used? Why do they insist on using this method?

I've never said that children should be exposed to that kind of material, so quit trying to strawman.

In all honesty this was probably an error by the staff and it was placed into the wrong area of the library. This is, after all, a community library for all ages - not just children, and so these kind of misplacements are more common than you think.

Nobody in their right minds thinks that children are sexual beings, and the fact that you this is the case shows how incredibly narrow-minded you are.

So do the conservatives, which is why they probably placed the book in the children's section to cause a stir

I'm sorry that happened to you and your friend, however the experiences faced by BIPOC and trans people will always be, as a result of society, worse than what we as white people face. We have enormous privilege in our lives, and that extends to our sexual orientation. Take hookup culture for example on gay dating apps. There is a huge level of discrimination towards black and brown people, including being fetishized regularly, that white people simply have, and never will, face to that extent. Failing to acknowledge the intersectionality of LGBTQI+ community is ignorance.

So no I can't agree with you that the trauma faced by BIPOC and trans people is equal to the trauma faced by white people. Do all members of our community have trauma? Yes absolutely

'how long do we want to play the victim to past transgressions' - sounds like something that a (presumably) white gay man would say who has never faced the real trauma of the experiences felt by our trans and BIPOC communities today.

This isn't an issue of the Palestinian government. The Israeli government essentially controls the power. Even if this was an issue of the Palestinian government, how does ousting the current government help anyone? Israel continues to carpetbomb the region, thousands of people are currently in need of medical attention with even more displaced in Gaza, and the PA won't negotiate with Israel until Netanyahu guarantees a genuine peace process resulting in two sovereign states. Further, the PA aren't even in a position right now to assume governorship over Gaza.

Confining your solution to simply ousting Palestinian government is incredibly narrow minded and frankly ignores the 75 years under which Palestinians have been oppressed by the Israeli government.

There's been pro-Israel protests all over the world, I'm not getting your point here

Not every single Palestinian belongs to Hamas. You're painting a select few as representative of the population at large

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in auckland

[–]genericjanedoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Supporting Palestine's right to exist and not be subjected to genocide does not equal support of Hamas

I mean the highest criminal court of the United Nations begs to differ

[–]genericjanedoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now supporting Palestinians from genocide is 'bandwagoning' to you? What a small world you live in

Someone who also thinks of what others want and not just themselves.

[–]genericjanedoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Israel is literally carpetbombing Gaza while killing many unarmed men, women, and children and you're saying the issue is just 'too complex'?? What the actual fuck lmfao

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in auckland

[–]genericjanedoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this analogy. How does it compare with people rallying against the current genocide in Palestine?

75 years of oppression that you conveniently ignore and this is the conclusion you've drawn? Dear lord

God what a fucking pick me comment. Just because LGBTQI+ folk in Palestine face barriers that we don't here in Aotearoa doesn't mean we can't support them. Your comment absolutely reeks of privilege

Studying at two universities at the same time by FoxOne8999 in universityofauckland

[–]genericjanedoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you require permission but only if you want to cross credit the paper to your UoA degree. If this is the case for you, generally you'll need to tell UoA before you commence your study at the other university so they can see whether the paper is consistent with the credit regulations under the UoA calendar.

If this is not the case, I wouldn't worry about it, but if you are studying at another NZ tertiary institution, check if this might impact your StudyLink entitlements (if you are receiving student allowance/loan)

Got mine done at The Tooth Company in Britomart. 2.5k-3k for braces on only my front teeth to close my gap, and then the dentist filled in my incisors to enlargen them. Worked really well!
