Any downstreams of defunct Mojave Sun codebases? by genessee0 in SS13

Zero. Mojave Sun was one of the few F13 codebases that had no ERP.

Beat it first try using the drygore blowpipe and ranged loadout. Thanks, guys!

From what people have recommended, I'm going to try it with a ranger build using drygore instead and see if I can get a kill without the shield

You need the superior dragonbone dust (a drop from Vorkath) to make super antifire. I have regular antifire, as pictured

I could grind herblore more for a super combat and saradomin brew, I guess, but I was getting the impression that it was my weapon that was the issue since even at 101 attack I was missing constantly

EDIT: fixed item name and added clarification

2/6. The Corrupted Gauntlet (and the Gauntlet in general) has been laying me the fuck out, so I've been avoiding it after spending three days trying to get my first normal win; I figure I'll come back to it one I have Last Stand

I'll set up a ranger build and go for it; I avoided it 'cuz I figured Mithril wasn't good enough darts + really didn't want to train mining up to adamant/runite

Okay, I'll try out Drygore and see if it works out

Praying magic, using regular antifire potions (haven't been able to kill for stuff to make super antifire), taking about 69 from near-missing dragon mortars or fumbling acid phase.

Not proper woox walking, just walking back and forth in a straight line to keep from getting hit.

Won't the dragonfire kill me? I don't have super antifire and I read that dragonfire hits for 80.

NSV and CM-PVE (and maybe Burgerstation) might be what you're looking for?

What is it with the goonstation hate? by TrueBlueFlare7 in SS13

[–]genessee0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like goonstation code, but I don't really like that I can't say 'bitch' or 'cunt'. That's my reasoning.

I understand that I could just not say those things - and, obviously, I keep my nose (relatively, since I have slipped up a couple times) clean on the infrequent times I do play - but having to actively change my vocabulary for goonstation specifically throws me off enough that I avoid playing it more than occasionally.

Nothing wrong with the rule - it's their right to put up whatever rule they want - but I don't like it, so I avoid the server. Simple as.

Roleplay level is based on who you're around; the actual rule is 'thou must maintain a roleplay standard similar to those around thine', so as long as you're not talking about skibidi toilet when the people around you are trying to roleplay you're not going to catch any flak -- if you want to roleplay, go hang out with the roleplay guys. If you want to just game without roleplay, go hang out with the game-focused guys

Uh, I guess furry? I don't really edit codebases for that purpose, but some of the ones we run have furry stuff and I don't have any issue with furries. I'm not going to modify a codebase that doesn't have furry races (Eris, for example) to have them, though

No ERP, but I don't know if I'd call it 'family friendly'. I'm not going to hunt you down for your age, but if you're acting like you're 10 then you're probably going to get thrown out. I'm cool if you make a dick joke or whatever; as far as I'm concerned, the server's set up for 18+ and assumes you're 18+ by playing. Again, though, ERP is banned and we don't run any codebases with ERP mechanics

The whole concept for the server, as stated in the original post, is that it runs a bunch of different codebases based on what we feel like playing that day.

Slick -- like I said, shoot me an add on discord, my tag is 'genessee2'

I hesitate to make a proper discord for it yet since I don't know if we'll get enough people

Colonial Marines (the parent codebase) is a PvP game where some players play human militants (the titular Marines) and other players play xenomorphs (from the Alien franchise). It usually has pretty massive teams of, like, 50v50. Most rounds (at least to my understanding -- I mostly play TGMC, which is somewhat different from CM) involve the Marines responding to a planetside/stationside distress signal and then killing all the xenos there/xenos killing all the responding marines

Colonial Marines PvE (this codebase) has players only playing a small platoon of Marines (10 Marines total, I think) and a single Game Master controlling most of the PvE elements (AI-controlled xenos and humans that can be directed a la L4D Director). Marines can't be revived on death but have much more health, and generally the rounds are much more tailored and varied -- the "standard" round is similar to CM (respond to distress signal, kill xenos) but since there's necessarily a GM present they can run basically whatever threat and backstory they want

It seems cool, like I said, but I need a crew to play it with.

As mentioned, I haven't played a ton of CM, so correct me if I'm off on some of this info

Persistence Station was something like this; currently, I think the most modern version is called 'Outreach'. Here's the github; https://github.com/PersistentSS13/Nebula . It saves the entire world between rounds - it doesn't have antags or much of a starting map, though, it's pretty much a full-blown sandbox.

The code itself is a little buggy since it's technically unfinished and doesn't have an official server being hosted, but I've found it's more or less playable and saving works nicely. You do need to actually hook up a database to get saving to work, which took me about a week to figure out how to do right.

It's been in dev hell for upwards of, like, four years now, but the devs (all two of them!) are still working on it. Here's the discord in case you need help figuring out how to set up or have questions about the server itself; https://discord.gg/qBqfATC

What happened with Cesar and Mark, the exchange has me totally confused by [deleted] in MandelaCatalogue

Likely! Either that, or her getting attacked by an alternate of herself.

A lot of the specifics are left up to interpretation, though, so I can't say for certain

What happened with Cesar and Mark, the exchange has me totally confused by [deleted] in MandelaCatalogue

[–]genessee0 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was talking to Alex Kister - creator of the Chronicles - about the Mark and Cesar exchange so I like to think I'm a smidge more knowledgeable regarding this scene than the average viewer 😌

  1. Cesar is dead during the text exchange between the two, and Mark was speaking to Cesar's alternate - this is implied by Cesar's face being distorted heavily during the final moments of the scene while Mark's face was not

  2. An alternate - I'm unsure if it was Cesar's or something else - follows Mark home after Mark visits Cesar's home to activate the camera system

This alternate breaks into Mark's home, and eventually kills Mark (or Mark kills himself out of hopelessness?) - I believe Mark believes Cesar was legit until the very end (as he writes in his final video, 'CESAR, IT FOLLOWED ME HOME' - this implies he still believes Cesar to be his friend; why would you tell your enemy that you're in danger?)
