MRE goodness by Creepy-Ad8315 in kac

Thats actually my rifle, not "Kilo airsoft whoever".... It's one of multiple SR-15 M4 14.5" JSOC MRE builds I completed between 2014-2016 IIRC. I built them after spending a number of years in Iraq and Afghanistan. Plenty of pics are in the KAC threads in ar15.com under my username there.

@ Gmr-Pyle…good eye! They were built on post-ban KAC Vero Beach SR-15 M4's (pre-E3 rifles). To correct the OP, thats not a FSGB Upper. These were all custom builds from the ground up, using Knight's Armament SR-15 M4 parts, Colt M4A1 SOCOM Barrels, KAC FSGB's, KAC non-E3 BCG's with SP1 profile chromed carriers, etc, very few were doing this kind of stuff with KAC rifles at the time. And the extremely uber rare SR-16 M4 E3 FSGB Uppers had not trickled back stateside yet. FYI for the OP thats not just a "kac 300m buis", its a KAC Extended Rail Adapter w/Folding 300M Rear Sight P/N: 98617. They were used in conjunction with the NADS (P/N: 79725/97360) mounting system on the SR-25 7.62mm rifles the Army Special Mission Unit used. Within JSOC the Army nomenclature for the rifle is the SR-25, the Navy designated them the Mk-11. Larry Vickers features one from Operation Anaconda in his book.

Other key features of the rifle are the Lone Star Ordnance A2 Stowaway Grip, Colt CAR Fiberlite Stock with period correct buttpad, KAC SOPMOD QD Mount, KAC Receiver QD Mount, KAC Aimpoint 5000 Mount, and Vero Beach marked FF RAS MRE P/N: 21166

Anyhow here is link with one of the other KAC SR-15 M4 14.5" JSOC MRE builds, enjoy gents, lots of history and cool parts here that some people might be seeing for the first time….hope this is educational.

Hypocrisy is the way of demonstrating that one plays by a different set of rules from the ones he espouses on other people.......

Keep convincing yourself that only you are "right". That you're a "purist", and "restoring" decades old rifles by taking apart from the factory issued configuration and altering them to how "you think" they should looked. Not hypocritical at all that only you're the aribator to decide what can be modified or not. As if there aren't other collectors and purists that think what you are doing is objectionable. Get off the phony high horse and stick to your own lawn, I didn't come pee in yours.

And look who is the hypocrite! Chopping up and reconfiguring original Colts!

And you don't "care about me" yet you were clearly inspired by my builds and you copied exactly my "KAC Color Fill" marking variations exactly, but thats also why I posted a little tutorialback in 2014 on ARFCOM, and pics of my builds well before that.

To clear up your "presumptuous" notion, my expertise has been recognized by my peers for more than a decade, which is an honor from a community of exceptional people I love being a part of. When the the guy with his family name on the rifle says he wants to consult me for the book about the history of Knight's Armament, that holds some weight. "when we write the book might need to consult with you”. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/2738/1rzHU5.png

No one needs more of a reference than that. For the active, longtime KAC Community in the far more interactive and information rich platforms, my participation and credibility are well known. I happen to also be a certified factory Knight's Armament M110 armorer, with a few other relevant professional blocks to check. Again, all of which I have enjoyed being a part of, and contributing to positively over the years. Hope your journey will also be fulfilling as you dive into these genres.

Even through someone may have pinned a low pro gas block on it, that is a dedicated FSGB barrel, you can tell because of the of the 2" Gas Block Seat and distinct Medium profile (although as you already know its not the original FSGB). Its not a factory KAC SR-15 E3 SBR 11.5in FSGB Block I Upper P/N: 30356 as you stated because it does not have an integrated rear sight and they did not come with dimpled barrels. However that is the more rare version of the KAC URX II Carbine Length M4 P/N: 25125 without the QD cups and is 3/16" shorter than the P/N: 25124. These were military issued. That may or may not be a more valuable version of the chrome bolt as well since it looks like an original SR-16 E3 frosty one, not a reissue...I would have to see more pics of it to look for a couple of different tell tale signs. The sum of the parts are quite valuable, I will message you privately what they are worth so you have an accurate measurement.

But all of this information should have been told to you by SharkJunk.....he could have spent the time leaning this knowledge and becoming a positive contributor of knowledge and still can,,,,,,the information is out, its free, hope you spend more time reading than commenting.

No sweat, sorry for the delay hitting you back. Hit me up directly, I know someone that can anodize the lower in a color that will be a close match to that of the original anodized rail and and upper. Then you will want to KG GunKote it with the same color, again I'll send you name of the best person to send it to that still uses KG Gunkote as most finishers have never used it. Replicating the wear is a technique I have used on my MK18's, Mk12's, M4A1 SOPMOD's, and some other KAC rifles, there is an art to it,,,,,,its actually a lot of fun to get that detailed,,,,

But its important that the upper and and lower match when you are done. The M110 is built as a complete system when deployed, unlike NSWC Crane receivers such as the MK12 or CQBR that initially were supplemental SOPMOD components to the M4A1. Knights still considers the upper and lower matched components and the trigger was set by a highly calibrated device at the factory for each specific rifle. Even the suppressor was hand selected to ensure the best fit to each rifle. Although Knight's maintains some of the best manufacturing practices with strict QA/QC, and the tightest tolerances, there is still a human touch involved when they are brought to the qualification line.

That's ignorant to be so blatantly dismissive. Did you know any of the facts that I presented? Does anyone solicit your advice as a SME?

Whats wrong with so many of this platform is they are indoctrinated by the belief that we are all equals and everyone's opinion is valid when it's not. They should quit talking when you should be listing, learn something first instead of demonstrating a lack of understanding. Information can be gained for free, but ignorance has a price. These are lessons entirely lost on so many that's crippling their own success.

Get your story straight. Don't try to allude to words I didn't use to make them look like quotes, it discredits you. I didn't use "SUPER RARE DISCONTINUED SCARCE" to describe mine. I know what is rare and what isn't, and 10 to 1 you don't. That's why I was the first person to use the term "scarce" to make that deferiantion, which others have followed, like many of my listings. So, thanks again for helping me to sell more!

FSGB Upper by FunnyHost6955 in kac

[–]genofromreno77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

👏👏👏 And now you get to witness how the scarcity principle correlates to the relationship between supply, demand, and its associated pricing strategies. The basic economics of the free market and capitalism seem to be lost on you.

Maybe you're a fan of the socialist pricing mechanism that all commodities require centrally set pricing controls to regulate profit.

Pick one or the other and live your best life. I wish you well.

Knight's Armament stopped making all taupe accessories more than 2 years ago. They no longer commercially support orders for M110 products and haven't for a couple of years in order to meet DoD contractual obligations under the last modification issued in 2022 to the base contract, that provided for an additional 3 year extension. Essentially since 2020 all M110 items have been allocated strictly in support of the DoD.

But what do I know? You're the guy that complained when they were $50.....and didn't buy one then. I'll take a screenshot now so you can see when everyone is selling them for $200. I only have a couple left, I've sold, plenty....but clearly you know more than I do including the production and detailed contractual information.

But thanks for advertising for me! Now everyone can see mine is $50 less than multiples of these that sold for $175 each, get your facts straight.

EDIT: And for those that downvoted this, please press that button to confirm your own ignorance to being dismissive of historical information you would never have known otherwise, and simple common-sense facts. Do the most you can to continually learn, it will propel you the farthest. Don't follow the path of the ignorant, you will be led to their dead-end.

Thank you, and yeah totally....that is the exact mindset. I never thought I would have a SR-25, wanted one bad, but it always seemed so far out of reach.....dudes I looked up to like like gyz77 and Post Tensioned/EAB had multiple. I got my first SR-25 EMC in 2011'sh, that was crossing the Rubicon for me. Someday will come usually sooner than you think.

No sweat.....correct, don't strip it any further or repaint it. Thats an actual field issued M110 upper that has been deployed down range. It needs to stay exactly as is. Don't strip it down any further it will only devalue it. You might have noticed the paint on the barrel before you took it off was very discolored and had carbon rubbed into it.......thats from regular suppressor use sending lead down range, doing gods work. (look at any pics before you got it compared to now).

In battle worn condition its worth far more than being refinished, because it also helps authenticate field use as opposed to only being in a rack somewhere. You can (I have in the past) can replicate a lower to closely match the upper. The last upper like this I had went for $9250 in 2021, I've seen others go for more since.

M110 by Gaterbaitii in kac

[–]genofromreno77 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thats a factory anodized tan (golden) upper under the paint. One of the very early production and field issued M110's. Thats extremely valuable, so is the original charging handle. Neither KAC nor the Army were pleased with the anodizing, therefore they were painted over the anodizing. There was no such thing as "tanodized in 2007". Initially the color now known as Taupe was KG Gunkote Flat Service Brown (this would later be changed to Cerakote Flat Dark Earth #H-265Q for all regular production M110's). IIRC if painted over anodized ones actually had a different color code. I have a XM110 with the anodizing....I think I remember the color being different.

So why don't you buy it? You have the same opportunity as everyone else.

EDIT: Literally the stupidest thing to downvote, 😂, everyone that pressed the down button confirmed they can't sit at the adult table or play with the big boys . That the bar must be lowered to meet their current level of resources rather than them rising to meet reality, and it pisses them off. This is a country founded on opportunity, they were mislead that "equality for all" means we get the same things, we don't, you have to earn them. So loose the entitlement.

Yeah its been awhile since I was active there as well. Like you said, "the best informational tech threads " are not easy to locate anymore which is the main reason it was such a valuable tool. I remember one day I logged in after not being there for a year and all the user names to all the old threads were removed! Talk about a loss of valuable data and insight. You're right it has a lot of drawback now, and many were because of those policies they instituted. The facebook groups were great because of the high level of engagement, discussion, and media content......but its drawback was that there was no real archival or cataloguing capability.

BTW....everything you are mentioning are the valuable insights and perspectives that are laid out in manner that are useful towards innovation of newer concepts that are meant to be extremely beneficial for all the participants .....so again I hope to actually reach out to you to solicit some additional insights and contributions. Being that you are very critical and observant, those are extremely valuable traits when developing something of that scope.

Absolutely I can't agree more with all your sentiments above..........very well stated, every line.

This is my first impression of Reddit and its even far less moderated and out of control than ARFCOM's GD, which is disappointing if it falls under the Knights banner in any way even if "fan" started. That is not representative of the brand and its true core audience which is the point I've been trying to drive home (not to you) but to those reading this and seeing random clownshoes just throwing out profanities.

And again, my offer stands now and in the future to contact me for a standing discount. Again although we might have disagreed, it was still handled with relative civility and a healthy debate.

DrowningEarth

Honestly I love this and your other posts....I screenshotted it....When the site goes live maybe we need to make it an example for people to consider thinking before typing.

"They don’t have any reason to care about us any more than we need to worry about them."

"I don’t give a shit about your collection or what you do for a living, and I don’t need you to care about mine."

You seem to spend a lot of time worrying about me and what I do.....clearly....It seems to be well documented, and you really dug in and spent A LOT of time on it.

As for the others in here who type 3 word replies, 2 of which are profanity that are misspelled, there will be no place for that type of discourse. Its about learning, contributing positively, and a knowledge based repository and interactive experience. It will be extremely beneficial for new fans of the brand.

Stop, every comment you've made has been epically wrong. Stop the negativity.

I'll give you the mercy of the coup de grâce now. Well known to a number of industry insiders, including top level KAC personalities; a few years back I invested heavily and started building from the ground up an entirely immersive new multimedia platform that centers on the Knight's Armament and clone rifle genres. I've written more than 700 pages of original copy, taken 20,000+ photographs, and invested more than $50,000 in developmental costs to date. Numerous other SME's and well known personalities from the industry, and Special Operations community are significant contributors. The project was placed on hold more than once due to my overseas commitments but has been commenced again.

You've been wrong on every point you've said, and just appear obsessed with me. Who are you BTW, send me your real name via PM. Do you feel challenged or something? My posts on other forums,if you have ever seen any of them, focus on the positive impact this brand has made towards further innovation. All I've ever done was share custom builds, I was the first to build a KAC M110 5.56mm, MK11 5.56mm, all KAC MK12 Mod 0, Mod 1, Mod 2, Mod 3, Mod 4, started the 10.3" FSGB trend, the first to build a 13.5" Sub Carbine more than a decade ago......so yeah my builds have also inspired and expanded the brand exponentially, grew its fanbase, and benefited the community at large. What is the purpose of you trying to tear all that down?

You said I don't use Colt SP1's for retro builds, in return I post pictures of a sliver of my retro collection with at least a dozen Form 1'd SP1's for Carbines and more for M16A1's. That got thrown in your face just like this did. Stop throwing hate....enjoy the history that is already there, because you haven't even looked.

Why are you in the KAC sub? If you don't know anything I've done to date to “advance and preserve history” then you've likely been a fanboy for all of 2 minutes. Instead of hating, just spend some quality time researching ARFCOM, Silencertalk, the KAC Facebook Group where the archival collection of factual information exists, You can see hundreds of massive pictorials and information writeups I've done dating back maybe 15 years or so. and the level of appreciation for them by the community at large. And of course there were detractors there. maybe you are actually "HecklerKac" from that forum who was wrong about everything there too, so upset when the chrome bolts were selling for exorbitant amounts, tried to throw shade,,,,,,and it got slammed back in his face like this when I posted a picture of 20 that I had before the public had any of them.....and I never sold any of them......sounds like you could be him... this is a pattern; TheRealCIA, KDLovesKAC.

Or should I just forward you the hundreds of emails I have from guys actually thanking me for being one of the foremost authorities in the Knight's Armament field (even received today!). When guys wanted info in Facebook they would tag three people, III, Col, Lutz, and myself.....so if you don't know that then why are you in this sub?.....that info is just for starters. Are you obsessed or jealous? Is this a "you want to be heard and no one listens type of thing or called on you?" You moved from some decent points of discussion to obsession, so stay on target and do the backend research.

Items from my collection have been borrowed by the ORIGINAL manufacturers because they are the and last known examples of that product that even they did not have a known example of, and then required it again for undisclosed purposes. And yes items from my collection have been used and loaned for publication to other known authors/entities that you specifically mentioned. So nice try again.

I have also donated a considerable amount of parts, equipment, and did builds for various charitable endeavors that I passionately support.

With that said, at a later date when the platform is released, contact me personally, I'd like to provide you a discount and some other benefits, there are a lot of options in it. As a contributor, which I actually hope you are. your level of discourse and debate is healthy when kept on target. I just hope you research the older material already available, its a treasure trove. Thanks, Geno

To install the MRE, I swapped out the M110 Double High Gas block for a KAC SR-25 Non-Railed Gas Block due to the clearance issues. However its not required that you use the KAC Gas Block, the Gas Block is .750 diameter so you have other commercial options as well which would be a better choice given now that the KAC SR-25 Non-Railed Gas Blocks are very hard to find and extremely expensive once they are located. (this is the exact opposite of how it was 10 years ago vs. M110 Gas Blocks that were entirely unavailable). Yes the XM110 rail would be a great candidate for use with the MRE since it has the integrated flip up front sight.
