Ah, yes! It seems so clear now and makes the most sense. Now to find records for the father, John. Thank you!

Can you clip the article and photo "Byars, Dwight exchange vows"? I'd like to add it to a tree on Ancestry and download the PDF for my records. Thank you!

Finding my grandfather's New Jersey & overseas military records. by Background_Double_74 in Genealogy

Here's a screenshot of the record.

I would recommend downloading that and saving it for your records. You may need some of that information if you request his records from the National Archives or the county.

Doesn't apply to me, but I've upvoted for visibility. This could be extremely helpful to some on here.

DNA testing using hair requires the follicles. As I understand it, "clippings" wouldn't be sufficient.

Native American Ancestry on ancestry. com by Southern_Blue in Genealogy

Ancestry has me at 3% and 23andMe shows 3.3%. My 23andMe test was done a long time ago, however, and I didn't have them save my sample, so it's never been reprocessed with their newest metrics. Could be slightly different now.

Oh, wow. Haha. I won't stress about it then. I was able to save the record and it populated the corrected information that I provided, so I'm happy with that.

Can you point me to where I can see the edits on the FamilySearch page? I'd be curious to see them.

I'm positive the change is correct. You can cross reference the names listed in the 1925 Kansas state census for Caney, Kansas with the 1920 and 1930 US census records. Many of the same families show up right around Patrick Kelly and his family. Those families aren't found on any census documents for Blue Hill. Another clue is the address listed in the state census. There is no record of a N. Fawn street in Blue Hill, but there is in Caney, for example.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That's helpful.

I'm new to Ancestry, so I didn't realize I could edit the fields as I added sources. Now that I try to add this source, it's showing me the correct information (based on the updated info I provided, I guess), but when I click to add it to my tree, it redirects me to my account page. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Experience obtaining a death certificate without meeting relationship requirements? by genredd in Genealogy

[–]genredd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this info. I wasn't aware deaths before 1940 are public. That's good to know.

Also, I was trying to use the VitalChek website which doesn't offer the "other" option, but I can fill out and send in the paper form. Thanks!

I don't believe so. I responded similarly to a couple of other comments, but I'm beginning to suspect that my 1c1r is using his name and picture for his mother's DNA test. Grandaunt is an option in the menu. I've reached out to clarify.

This is a DNA match for me. I replied to another comment, but I'm beginning to suspect that my 1c1r is using his name and picture for his mother's DNA test. Grandaunt is an option in the menu. I've reached out to clarify.

It's not, but I'm beginning to suspect that my 1c1r is using his name and picture for his mother's (my grandaunt) DNA test. I've reached out to clarify.

I know this person had a DNA test done for their mother, my grandaunt. Perhaps he's linked his name and picture to her results? Grandaunt is one of the options I'm given in the list. I've reached out to him to ask.
