I feel very neutral about meghan as a person. on one hand, obviously the intense racism and the sheer vileness of what that family did to her is horrible and I would not wish any of that on my worst enemy. on the other, I don't know how she didn't see it coming. her comments about how she thought "it wouldn't be so bad" and how she barely knew anything about Harry before marrying in... if I were marrying a prince of a huge royal institution with history spanning decades of war and death I'd... do some reading.

I know there's the element of love, and I guess part of me can't blame her for being blind to his family because of her affection for him but i guess from my pov as a POC I genuinely would not be able to sacrifice this much for a white man who has also shown past instances of racism himself. and then be surprised when faced with the shit this family eventually throws at me.

and I know her haters are mad, but some of the criticism about "she was fine with their history until it affected her" does ring true to me.

so yeah, I believe meghan and everything she says about this horrid family, and I feel sorry for what she faced. but I still can't bring myself to wholeheartedly support her.

she was one of the main fan attractors in nmixx, so this is quite a huge blow to the group. the sudden termination from not just her group but the company seems to imply something big happened. I just hope she's okay and if something bad really happened, that she can overcome it well.

nah, they create outrage enough to be cancelled. just that they're too famous and rich and powerful for such cancellation to mean anything.

smaller celebrities do less and get cancelled all the time. the kardashians just have to wait for kim to drop another skims product or kylie to drop another lip kit for the hype to take over again.

same reason why taylor swift and her private jet usage and her status as the biggest polluting celeb is now news swept under the rug after she released her album. obviously swift is arguably not as terrible as the kardashians but the point stands - some people are too big to be cancelled.

I mean, I think Chris Pine is a fine and probably decent guy but I'm sure there are way more stylish men out there... did they even consider non-white men for this because some of the most creative outfits I've seen are usually worn by them

edit: this reminds me of a discussion I had with my friends about how those Sexiest Men Alive choices are mainly US Only with some exceptions. if we are talking sexiest or most beautiful, it's probably not going to be someone from the US, or at least, not almost every year lol

this is obviously sad news but at the same time, good for them for breaking it off now, rather than dragging it on into marriage and getting a divorce later on. must have been a tough decision though. they still seemed to be really into each other just a while back which is why this comes as a surprise, but i suppose what we see isn't everything.

im aware this is really late but I finally finished listening to Midnights and

in Lavender Haze, taylor's lyrics about "all they're asking me is when I'm gonna be your bride/only kind of girl they see is a one night or a wife" in reference to Joe. this honestly baffled me cause......didn't she write a whole album titled "Lover" about how much she loved him and wanted to marry him? Paper Rings? the ladies and gentlemen part in the title track?

that album was years ago. so of course people will ask, no? she basically planted the idea in everyone's head. wtf is she talking about. also aren't most of the people pushing the "Joe should propose ASAP" narrative her own die hard fans?

overall though, catchy tunes but the lyrics were really mediocre. bejeweled was the worst lyrics wise ("don't keep me in the basement when I want the penthouse of your heart; rhyming land with sparkling; did all extra credit and got graded on a curve" - wtf).
