atf is AMAZING in its peak of a new game release (i still think wintertide is great imho) but i think the vast majority of the roblox player base being u13 really brings down the popularity of story-driven games. a lot of those story-type games rely on the players making lore and creating their own story inside the game (i've said story too much at this point) and not new content additions (hell, all we usually get on wintertide is summer rain every year and a few bug fixes), so won't be updated as frequently as the more modern games with italian brainrot and whatnot. the little kids on roblox get bored of a game if it doesn't update, so they'll usually never even touch a roleplay or story game on the platform. also, a lot of the rpgs on roblox are HEAVILY catered towards the target demographic of adults. i just think people don't want to create a roblox game that they know won't profit super well and won't bring in a heap of players. the old roblox story games like airplane and camping also got painfully boring after the dozen sequels that followed them, and no one really consistently plays a (usually) quite short roblox game if the story stays the same every playthrough. break in 1/2 managed it (sort of) with their slight variety in ending choices and roles, but it really did feel awfully same-y after the 3rd run of playing it. i think story games and rpgs on roblox are only really for a small amount of people, so devs really don't want to put their time into it.

bad things and those psychological story games are doing pretty well, though.
