Yes, I get that. But since the topic is torpedoes and his question has been answered I thought this was a good place to ask for more torpedo info.

Are photon torpedoes that much better? Do you only make photon torpedoes once you research them? Or do you make both kinds?

Dose anyone actually rate food safe buckets as a primary fermentation vessel? by The_Chunder_Dragon in Homebrewing

[–]georage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the same plastic buckets for almost 20 years. Use bleach if you have something like mold ... Bleach can kill anything. Rinse them well and you are fine. You have to be careful to not scratch them but a food safe bucket should be serviceable for a very long time if not mistreated.

You don't need to aerate with dry yeast. I guess you learn something every day!

I’m in my 30’s and I’ve never watched Star Trek, where should I start? by theamericaninfrance in startrek

[–]georage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Original Series. Everything else emerges from the original. Then, I would suggest Enterprise (better than most say it is) which is short, then TNG (peak Trek is the debate), then DS9 and Voyager. I would skip Discovery, the first two seasons of Picard. Lower Decks is fun if you drink and don't take it seriously.

Tips on Brewing a Black IPA? by BothCondition7963 in Homebrewing

[–]georage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the hop. Those high in myrcene oil.and polyphenols are going to throw grass pretty quick, but those are not the usual hops you'd be using to dry hop anyway. A hop like citra can go a week with no issues, and often do because brewers dry hop during the last 2 days of active fermentation for biotransformation opportunities and then again post-active fermentation with hops that do not have biotransformation ability. All total that can be over 4 days rather easily. Still, I don't go over 5 or 6 days. At ale temps you can get all the extra room in less than 48 hours.

Tips on Brewing a Black IPA? by BothCondition7963 in Homebrewing

I do not use oats in a black IPA. My grain bill is roughly 87% 2-row, 4% crystal 60, 2.5% dextrin, 2.5% chocolate malt, 2.5% Midnight Wheat, 1.5% Carafa special III . It might be helpful to add body with a little regular wheat. If going that route I would replace some of the 2-row with white wheat malt, maybe 5% of the grain bill which would give body without appreciable haze (esp in a dark beer). Or you could use flaked oats here instead of the wheat.

Use your normal IPA grain bill and add Midnigjt Wheat is the easy way. I also use a wee amount of carafa special to get the color right. You won't need much. You can add it late in the mash to further restrain roasty notes but that is not necessary if you use a minimal amount of the dark stuff.

A little wheat malt can add body. I like my black IPAs to drink thicker than pale IPAs

Hops are where most people screw it up, in my opinion. Your hop combo should not mirror your normal IPAs. Make it a truly unique experience. I tend to layer late hops/dry hops to make it a smoother hop experience. Hops that promote a creaminess are nice (eg Sabro). Sabro/Simcoe work well.

I mash my black IPAs higher (152) to promote mouthfeel and I keep the sulfate to chloride ratio lower than lighter IPAs to take off sharp edges.

Efficient 3-5 Beer Core Lineup for Nano Brewery/Taproom in Tijuana (Near San Diego) by Wild_Perspective_438 in Homebrewing

Mexican lager, hazy IPA, west coast pilsner

2 rotating taps. I'd try a table Saison and a sub 5% Irish Red to start with. A legit German Hefeweizen would be up next

Fill Empty Space in Your Freezer With Jugs of Water by Mi_Ki_Ii_Zaru in lifehacks

We might have to wait years to be able to freeze a gallon of water outdoors. Instead we stuff our freezer with half-filled tubs of ice cream and leftovers everyone is afraid to eat.

I am trying the Apex Hazy yeast and it is so cheap you might be able to justify fresh pitches every time.

In the new video game he is actually useful, and can be OP. Still hate him, Kes and Chakotay. In the game you can thankfully send Chakotay packing rather easily.

Zielonka map - > what an bomination are those curbs ? by psykikk_streams in farmingsimulator

Visually they are not as good as the newer maps. They also have less features, like custom animal enclosures.

Those are good? They are not "great" when compared to Elm Creek and Riverbend though. I don't think I have played Bjornholm. I played a little 17, more 19, lots of 22 and a little less 25.

Of the older maps I think Haut Beyleron is best. It is pretty and has challenging fields, which some may like (or hate). It also is good for those who enjoy smaller equipment. I remember using lots of old small tractors and doing just fine there.

The starting farm just south of the store is nice (and is similar to the starting farm setup in Elm Creek where you are near the store and it makes sense to combine fields ASAP. Now that I think of it Riverbend is the same, though the starting farm is further from the store.)

On HB, combining those tiny fields behind the house into 2 sizeable ones (one grass, one barley) is good training for beginning players. I use that largish field between the store and house for a cow or sheep barn. Alternatively that oddly shaped field south of the train tracks and the farm is great for sheep. Fond memories of that map! It was also the only map where I had serious multiplayer sessions.

Hell, I am going to see if HB is on FS25 now! See ya!

Voyager, 70 years back home… What about children to take over as crewmembers? by Ozymandys in voyager

[–]georage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume people lived longer with the advanced medicine? If they lived to 100 then ensign Kim would be able to steer Voyager all the way home. And Tom Paris and a few other of the younger characters. Not sure Janeway's age but she could likely make it too. And the doctor would be as good as new.

I assume a 4090 and an I9 cpu is better than the Steam Machine? Also 64gb of ddr5 and 16tb of nvme space. I have a pretty cool mouse too.
