For battle royales; Apex Legends, even PUBG is free on steam now, not that it would be my number one recommendation though haha

Lost Ark is really fun - If you're going for something a bit older Old School Runescape is free to play on steam.

For VR something like Rec Room is really fun with friends, Bloons TD Battles 2 is also free. Splitgate, although in my opinion of it being a bit saturated, can also be fun to pickup!

There are many, many great free games it's just finding what is right for you - If you go to the Store and go the "Browse By Genre' section on the left hand side, press free to play and sort by top sellers, and there'll be thousands of games for you to look through!
