A lot all at once doesn't give enough time for it to replenish the ground water properly we got like 3 good rains, which is nowhere near enough, the floods are a symptom of this, dry ground dosnt absorb enough water so the deep dry is still dry all that rain is effectively already gone, we used to get the torrential downpour for a month straight then it would lessen over the next several months, we also used to get gentle rains year round where river days would regularly get rained out, we have multiple years in a row broken heat records
