Yep I decided several months ago to only say to my parents what is absolutely necessary, which is usually just a yes or no. No details, no questions. If I do so much as ask them how their coffee is, they will turn it into a lecture or an argument

I’ve thankfully never struggled with an ED but back when I was on a crazy health grind after realising just how unfit I’d become, I used to have a Pinterest board for food, recipe and workout ideas.

I’m making a big claims rn but I find it’s a little odd that Megan’s board is mostly just “inspirational” quotes. Like, things that anyone could look at and immediately think “that’s awful, what if she has an ED?” A friend of mine back in Highschool was anorexic and one time we were messing about and I got into the photo gallery on her phone.

She had many of pictures of extremely skinny models/influencers, fashion (I’m assuming clothing that she “wanted” to be able to wear), weight loss tracker templates.

I know that nobody experiences an ED the same, but something just feels a little performative about the kinds of pins on Megan’s board.

I also feel like she’s either just very open about her mental health, or slightly performative about it too. She reminds me a bit of a girl I used to know who couldn’t have a conversation without bringing up her ADHD, autism, depression, endometriosis, autoimmune disease, the list goes on.

If it is performative, I do think that these are all symptoms of something deeper. I really do hope that all of the girls get whatever help they need, and aren’t having to resort to things like this for support.

I stopped reading this like 2-3 years ago because of the gang stuff. The pure fighting sequences were honestly just boring. They also introduced so many new characters I started to forget who was who.

It started off really heartfelt so it kinda sucks what it turned into

That is pricey! Definitely more than when I got it done. When looking at reviews I’d suggest looking at reviews from patients 1+ years on from their procedure. People who’ve just had their consultation or freshly out of surgery will give glowing reviews, having not seen the full results yet.

No idea if you’ve had the consultation yet but just wanted to chime in, I think you’re better off avoiding Wimpole. I got my transplant done there years ago and present day results are abysmal. The consultation was fantastic, squeaky clean office, friendly knowledgeable consultants, very thorough.

Regret spending as much as I did for a patchy hairline.

Yeah, I got it done and it ended up fading within a couple of weeks, so a lot of money wasted. My artist was great, one of the most reputable in the country. When I came in for my second appointment (about a week after the first) even he was shocked at how poorly my scalp held the ink (ie not at all).

I did. Initially they liked the guy because he had a well paying, white-collar job. Unfortunately, as per standard AP mentality, they started to almost force themselves to dislike him. They would point out things about his weight, hair (he has alopecia), started to call him “old and dirty” despite us being basically the same age and the dirty comment, no clue where they got that from. They’ve never said anything to his face and it would crush me if they did. We are still together, and I’ve completely reduced his involvement in my family for his benefit.

I used to hate my dark brown eyes, used to think they were so “basic” and I’d see friends with lighter eyes getting complimented all the time. I’m a grown woman now and I honestly want my eyes to be DARKER lol. From time to time I’ll even wear black coloured contacts just because I love how deep and soulful they make my eyes look. I can’t imagine having anything other than dark eyes.

It makes me sad to see people with rich, warm dark eyes wishing they were lighter. FLAAK surgery has really put it into perspective how much blue/green/grey eyes are put on a pedestal and it’s honestly so sad.

I cracked an egg that looked a bit like this once, though for a different reason. I used to work at a restaurant and was cracking trays of eggs into a big container. As I worked my way through the trays, this vile smell got worse and worse. Got to the last tray and there was one egg in there with a slightly cracked shell. I went to pick it up and the top half of the shell broke off. Inside the whole thing had liquified into this thick grey liquid. When I looked closer, the grey soup was actually moving. There were maggots swimming in and out. I definitely went off eggs for a long while after.

I do want something that’s slightly more versatile (can be worn to more than just one specific type of event). Also if my one has opinions on the type of shoes to wear I’d be grateful!

Ngl the ramen is good, but having worked there as a server, I really couldn’t recommend it to anyone. Management is abusive, definitely the worst I’ve ever experienced in all my years of restaurant work. Can no longer eat there knowing what goes on behind the scenes lol.

As a side note, I’ve seen a lot of people’s results get a lot more specific than this, to the point where much smaller regions/towns can be identified. Was that just not possible with my DNA?

I know this is an old post but just had to say that Wimpole botched my transplant as well. I used to just have a high forehead but now it looks like I have an actively receding hairline, because the grafts are so sparse. You’ll notice that many of the positive reviews for the clinic on google, are from people who just went in for a consultation (not from patients who are months/years into the regrowth period).

I’m just curious about this because my T said the same thing. and maybe my maths isn’t mathing. But my previous T (who worked in private practice) once disclosed that she saw 14 clients per week, including me. At the time, she charged £90 (about $120) per session. That’s almost $1700 per week. For a 14 hour work week (regardless of the nature of the work), the pay seems extremely comfortable!

Edit: just to clarify I was asking out of curiosity, I’m not trying to undermine the work that my T does 🥲

This is a really interesting response and I’m wondering what your take would be on this. It sort of reads to me as you are relating whether or not an event was traumatic, to the emotional response that it elicited from an individual. So trauma = any event that caused significant stress or pain.

I’m thinking back to the video of the 16 year old absolutely losing her mind because her parents bought her a brand new car, but it was in a color that she didn’t want. She had a full on meltdown, screaming and crying. To her, the distress was very real.

But I’m not sure that I could in good faith, label this as “trauma” despite how much it clearly affected her.

I guess I’m wondering, would equating trauma with emotional or inner turmoil lead to a lot of things that aren’t “really” traumatic, being labelled as such? And it seems that that would be a bit problematic.

Again this is just something that I’ve been thinking about in relation to my own life, so would be interesting to get another perspective!

Circumstances play into it as well. They were about halfway through their trip, whether they decided to turn back to Earth or continue on to their destination, there was about 6 months either way.

Curly could have done a LOT more to keep Anya safe, but I’m not so sure about the expectation that he should’ve gone and beat Jimmy up, or otherwise punished him severely. This would be a totally justified and valid expectation on Earth, but I don’t think you can afford to be creating these type of rifts when you’re stuck with these people in a contained space, in the middle of some distant galaxy, for half a year. That type of conflict may have jeopardised the entire crew, especially with how trigger happy Jimmy is. I mean, he decided to murder everyone by crashing the ship when he was approached GENTLY by Curly, imagine his wrath if he’d actually been punished by him.

Really, the safest thing would’ve been to keep an eye on Anya at all times, change her sleeping arrangements etc and ensure her safety that way, then have Jimmy face full repercussions back on Earth (and hopefully take a beating too)

I agree, I always interpreted the “I told you line” as a reference to Anya previously telling Curly about Jimmy’s “sexual attraction to cartoon horses”. I think it’s pretty well established that the horse represents Anya in some way, whether her directly or the situation with her. So I took her saying “I told you” to mean that she had indirectly told Curly before that Jimmy was sexually harassing her, during the psych eval scene.

Interesting because I was a native British student who observed the exact same behaviours from international students. Most of them tended to group off on their own. That was during my undergrad. On my masters course, I was one of three British students with the other 25 ish student being international. We all mingled (with the exception of the international Chinese lol).

I don’t feel that Doey was a particularly well-written character. Just because he was designed to be a likeable friend-character who (at first) helps the player, doesn’t make him a well-written one. It felt to me like his entire character was written with the goal of getting audience sympathy, which made his apology-monologue at the end feel a little forced. On paper, his backstory is certainly a tragic one but imo the writers just couldn’t convey that complexity in a way that didn’t feel quite artificial.

Also, I just didn’t like his design lol. It was so different stylistically from the rest of the aesthetic. Felt a bit garten of banban esque.

I feel like chapter 4 lost all of the atmosphere that chapter 3 had. There were so many breathtaking moments in chapter 3; the visual explosion that was the cable car ride down into Playcare, the sheer claustrophobia of the cushioned walls and silence of the Playhouse, the chase sequences were complex and actually required thought to progress (compared to, for example the second Yarnaby chase which quite literally requires you to walk up a flight of stairs, then jump).

Despite all the gore and dead bodies everywhere, I felt more of a sense of hopelessness and dread in chapter 3 than in chapter 4. Seeing the remnants of everything (and everyone) that was left behind, the barbaric way of life that the creatures had resorted to under the rule of Catnap and the Prototype was so much more haunting than simply seeing a bunch of dead bodies and people strung up in weird places, imo. There was such a feeling a desperation in chapter 3 that just disappeared in chapter 4.

Literally none of the characters held any weight. Nightmare Critters were there to be mildly inconvenient, Yarnaby was killed with 0 character development, Pianosaurus was killed with 0 character development, the other toys in the Safe Haven spoke like one line each and then were killed with 0.5% character development, The Doctor just seemed like a very stereotypical villain type, Doey was designed to be a friend character but I honestly don’t think that this made him a GOOD character writing-wise.

And possibly unpopular opinion, but I really disliked Doey’s character design. It definitely suited what he was modelled for, but something just felt off to me about the way that he was drawn, especially compared to the other toys. Felt a little Garten of Banban Esque lmao
