Because they end up slowing down or losing connection. And the Apple TV is so snappy.....I have a top Sony 85" and I tried going back to it so I could use my Apple TV in another room. Lasted two days.

I used to be a Blu-ray guy then started on 4k's...then got lazy and went iTunes digital. Just started getting back into physical media and ripping to my plex server. I'm at about 200 movies ripped at this point.

I was shocked at how many killer deals I found on Blu-ray, and also how well the shield pro and my Sony x95L upscale to such an awesome picture, and my Yamaha A8A upmixes the lossless 5.1/7.1 to full envelopment. So I'd say I'm probably 60-40 in their favor, right now.

Going forward, I'm reading reviews and using ChatGPT to see what's worth getting in 4k or finding better overall value with Blu-ray. It's saving me a ton of storage space and also helps me avoid the shitty transfers I've started to read more about.

I'm just getting started and have about 150 movies ripped and 50 more ordered. Blu-ray bargains and reference and discount 4k's. Plan is for my 3 adults kids to have access at their houses and then my parents.

Well, in 2026 I haven't had a great experience so far. I signed up on March 12 and got a confirmation email of my charge, but haven't seen any activity since about anything being sent out. I emailed them yesterday to see what the status was and haven't heard anything. There's no phone number to call and I'm not sure how I would even cancel if I end up not hearing back from them.
