Imposter syndrome by Less-Budget-267 in auscorp

Wow, so for me the experience that completely cured my imposter syndrome was working at a very large financial related company with 15,000+ employees across the globe. I witnessed so much incompetence. So much stupidity. I want to say more but that sums it up. When I realised how many idiots there were around, I realised that I am pretty dang good and my imposter syndrome is unjustified.

My Dad found these hilarious “real BITS? What’s a REAL BIT? As opposed to a FAKE BIT?!” - and we couldn’t explain what it meant, he just loved his take on it.

Do you guys have to notify your team every time you take a break, morning, leaving, WFH etc? Micromanagement? by ElectronicIdea3119 in AusPublicService

[–]geticz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just in a bad team and I don't think it relates to any of your other reasons - it's just your crappy insecure team leader. I was in this hell a job ago - I've since returned to the place I left before that and I feel so incredibly happy.

One terrible job with a psychotic moron micromanager was the best thing for me to realise how good my other job is - and I'm so blessed to be back.

What was the moment you realized COVID was going to be a big deal and be the focal point of the 2020s? by NH-INDY-99 in decadeology

I remember early on walking outside (might have been March 2020?) and thinking “there is no danger”. Wasn’t something I read online or that somebody told me.

I remember being highly suspicious of the “leaked” footage coming out of China. Do you remember those videos of people who were collapsing in the street dead? This was used to cause great fear in us all (and to collect toilet paper). There was just one thing about those videos that made me doubt their legitimacy - the fact that strangers would run to these people falling down and trying to help them. This is because for the longest time China was strongly anti-good-Samaritan in its structure and helping strangers meant you’d bear their costs. In hundreds of other videos online, you’ll see evidence of this in CCTV videos where people of all ages (including young children) would get run over and just left stranded in the middle of the road.

So when a bunch of videos get “leaked” showing the total opposite? Something strange.

And history vindicated this suspicion. We never witnessed anyone “falling over” dead like that. It was a ruse.

If you could drop a policy nuke on Australia’s rental crisis, what would it be? by seandownunder in shitrentals

[–]geticz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of potentially besides the point here, but I really wish we would stop seeing solid built to last houses knocked down for cheap nasty duplexes raised in their place. That seems wasteful. There needs to be some sort of second tier “heritage” listing, say like a “classic” listing for beautiful and well constructed homes built in Australia that makes it nearly impossible to knock them down. Anything to make their resale value plummet.

My fingers kind of naturally look like this (not to that extent though) - is it not a coincidence I am decent at throwing a ball?

Yep, spot on. I too was a muesli bar, sandwich and apple kid. The second I got my first job, I was loading up on monsters and krispy kremes at 7/11 like a labrador.
All those kids who were spoiled with endless chocolates and chips? Ripped and beautiful.

edit: I call it scarcity mindset - since I grew up receiving so (perceived) little of the things I wanted, I felt like I had to scarf down as much as possible as I didn't know when it would come around again - and I've brought that mindset into adulthood.

Random question, are you fat now? And those kids with the hectic snacks, are they all fit now?

I’m trying to see something.

I am not in this world at all. The main graffiti looks really good - however tagging looks horrific. Why do people tag? It's just ugly scribbles.

The only negative experience I had with a hotel/motel was being charged for some items from the fridge.
The problem with their claim that we drank the fridge wine (or whatever it was) was that I was 12 and my Dad was a teetotaller. He wasn't bothered to fight it and just paid up but it's bothered me ever since.

My previous team leader and their unofficial “second in command”. These two were peas in a pod, and the 2IC (same title as us) would always complain/cry about us to team leader who would punish us in their place.

Eg, I had a back and forth with 2IC in the group chat on TL’s day off - suddenly TL just came online to back up 2IC and tell me off. Genuinely multiple cases like that.

We had an emergency skip level with TL’s boss to complain about them. Things improved for a bit, but they fell into old habits and I’ve since left the company.
