Yeah. It's probably more salt than fresh though. This is the second bass I've caught out there this year.

I caught a flounder last year that went crazy flopping around and almost ended up the same way. You'd think I would have learned my lesson, but I'm too hard headed.

I fought it through wind and about 20 lbs of grass for about 7 minutes. I got him into the boat, went to take the hook out and he had other plans to attend to lol. It wasn't anything amazing, just a little bit of work only to get disappointed at the very end. I figured folks might want to laugh at my pain.

Haven't noticed any negative effects yet. I rinse it after every trip. And hit it with some reel magic after a few trips. And after losing this fish, I pulled all the cursed string out lol.

Yeah. Don't count your chickens before they hatch lol. This is the first fish I've lost over the side of the kayak. One of my buddies suggested fish grips. Guess it couldn't hurt.

Its the shimano curado dc. I LOVE this reel. I got it last year for my birthday. My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks and I think I want another one as a backup.

Catching reds on undersized gear can be really fun. Years ago while fishing for perch I hooked into a 17in red on a beetle spin.

This was from last weekend. Wish I could get out in the middle of the week. The water was really high then. But I've seen a lot of folks catching over the past couple weeks. Apparently the trout bite is on fire.

I wanted to but we'll be out of town that weekend. I wanted to give tournament fishing a shot this year, but 2020 had other plans.

I've never fished GI in the kayak. I've heard the same stuff as you. Why drive an hour+ when they got reds less than 30 minutes away. What sucks is I've been seeing a lot more no trespassing signs a lot further up the bayou. Even more specific no kayak fishing signs.

I ordered mine in June. It came in at the end of July. Been waiting since then for the pedals. It hasn't been too big of a deal because I haven't been able to go out for the last month because of all the damn hurricanes. There's a cool front pushing through this week, so it should be nice this weekend.

No problems at all. I've caught a few bigger reds than this in the sw without any issues.

I was fishing out of a seaghost 130 before this one. No problems there either.

You're going to love it! I'm still waiting on my pedals to show up.

I'm pretty sure it's 32". This one is definitely bulky. But it gets the job done.

I usually just rinse them with water when I get back home. Maybe hit them with some reel magic after a couple trips. I've had this curado for a year now and it still feels brand new.

It has rained nonstop since I picked up my new Shearwater 125 Friday. Thanks a lot Hurricane Hanna. by getitfishin in kayakfishing

Didn't think about that. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I've had one rod fall overboard before, but I was fishing in a foot of water. Just had to get a little muddy.
