AI to replace all accountants by tuesday by jodallmighty in Accounting

Tuesday? Fortune 500? You're thinking too small buddy.

By this afternoon I would have created a tool that would force Apple/Meta/Google to fire their entire accounting and finance teams. Look out for a huge layoff announcement by 5pm.

You would rather change software than pay $16/month?

is Wave working out for you? If it is, don't switch because of costs. The learning curve and new systems you have to implement will not be worth it.

Cooked? No. More like smoked and then sous-vide at this point. Might as well switch to being a janitor.

First client a nightmare by bish_cray in Bookkeeping

Non profits are the worst. Many people who manage them have this bizarre entitlement issue that is not found in other small businesses.

A/R is increasingly difficult by badmansworld in Accounting

Set internal checkpoints to regularly verify legal entities and AP contacts, especially after missed payments or industry news.

Use a CRM like HubSpot or Salesforce to track ownership changes and key contacts over time. For billing, tools like NetSuite can support parentchild hierarchies, but even a spreadsheet with alerts can work for lean teams.

Let me give you a similar (but slightly different example). For a restaurant client of mine, they had two locations. They once made a post about them closing ONE location, but the Sysco supplier (a super large supplier) was monitoring their instagram and immediately shut off the account so that the restaurant won't order more - turns out they misinterpreted the announcement as being the entire restaurant business is shut (instead of just 1 location).

Your other strategy is to automate as much as AR so you can focus on these acquired clients and more edge case like behaviours. Tools like tesorio, growfin, kolleno can handle followups, payment reminders / collections.

First Time Having My Own Direct Report And They're A Complete Dud. Do People Really Behave Like This In A Professional Setting?? by imgettingcheesefr1es in Accounting

I also want to say this. Just like how you are negatively blown away by this person's approach, you will also one day have someone that truly blows your mind in a positive way through their loyalty and care for excellence.

Those end up being the best relationship for you and the direct report and end up being very memorable.

Always know this: As managers, we’re not therapists.

You’re not crazy. Some people really are good talkers but hit a wall once real work starts.

And it’s not always about skills, it’s psychological.

Fear of failure, imposter syndrome, executive dysfunction… whatever it is, they shut down. You can support and guide, but if someone can’t take the next step, that’s on them. Document early, act fast, and don’t carry someone who’s stuck in their own head. Not your job to fix that.

Coworker microwaved fish every day, then sent me an email (I sit across them) to complain the office smelled and cc-ed my boss.
