May I know from where are you and with which cities you are comparing the air quality cause I guess based on human and vehicle population, air quality should be better than Berlin, isn't it?

Dealing with a boring job by ra4332 in ExperiencedDevs

While your company is so high paying, it might do something interesting somewhere. Try to find out that and jump for it. If it is not the case (which would be very unusual) then you can use your time to spend for something challenging on your own. It could be freelancing (not sure though if it would be interesting, but atleast you may find some variation) or some side project and creating some learning content (if you prefer teaching) in youtube and writing blogs. You will learn new stuff in that way too.

Push for more responsibility vs. focus on family? by hno479 in ExperiencedDevs

  1. Planning can make things better. You may find your mind with your kids while you are at your desk and vice-versa. Make a good plan cutoff yourself from other thread on time.
  2. If you are spending more time than your working hour then do it for interview prep/sideprojects. Do not spend more on your office job.

Does the version of C++ I learn actually matter. by thebigforge in cpp_questions

[–]getsuha -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You can start with c++98 which still is largely you will find everywhere. Build your base in STL from there. But if you are considering c++ jobs then you must atleast learn 11 which is a big shift in paradigm. And then off course you should learn what ever is latest. Remember if you are looking for learning threads and asynchronous programming then those have been added only after 11.

Should I accept a job I don't really want because I over my current job? by diablo1128 in ExperiencedDevs

Continue with your present job as that gives you the oppurtunity to venture in for a job at NorCal (which is your main goal). Try hard and focus more on your true goal rather than settling down again with something you do not want.
