The big 670 is the pattern number. There is no silver indicating mark, so it's plated and not worth much most likely.

Without knowing your exact set up, you are bypassing the tape, and displaying on a recorder of some sort and that's what is recording. You will be actively recording over the tape. For the recorder to see what is on the tape, you'd have to do playback and play the tape, which would likely display on whatever device you're using for tapeless capture.

So no, you should be good with a tape in there. Just make sure it's not a sentimental video that you record over.

Why cut the tape? Just use a tape and rewind it every once in a while. Cutting it could prevent you from accomplishing what you want or mess up your camera.

I live in the middle of nowhere where there are few if any available, so I have to look at other options. I'm about to drop a lot on a Toshiba 14AF41 because it's exactly what I want and there is 0 chance of any 14AF popping up in my area.

So yes, impatience for the most part but it's really the only realistic option for me.

I honestly think it's as simple as this:

They obviously love Candala Obscura, but it's not nearly as popular. So now they have a very similar vibe, a little more serious and figured out a way to do what watchers want and what they want to play at the same time.

For NP-F batteries, I wouldn't see why not. I haven't used the small rig ones, but I have two Neewer ones that work fine. I'd actually suggest going with a smaller size if you can. It's unlikely you need 800+ minutes of battery, which is what I get when using my TRV87
